On a very rainy day in Cornwall, we walked down the short path from the National Trust car park to the Lizard, the most southerly point of the UK, a truly spectacular spot. Needing a place to dive in out of the weather, Polpeor Café, was perfect, spectacular views from the outside seating, and a split level café inside. We managed to grab one of the last tables by the kitchen and perused what was quite a comprehensive menu, from snacks like sandwiches, to jacket potatoes with a full salad, to more substantial meals like pies, burgers and many fish dishes. We opted for an Egg Mayonnaise sandwich to share and a tea cake, with accompanying Earl Grey tea. The food and drinks arrived very quickly and although essentially snacks were some of the nicest food we had on our holiday, the egg sandwich being particularly good, with its accompanying fresh salad. Lots of tempting cakes and meringues for afters too, but we resisted. A fantastic café with great food, superb service, with a truly stunning backdrop, five stars every time!
