We visited Cockadoodlemoo again last night(28.12.15) and I hate to say this but something has gone wrong at Cockadoodlemoo. I wrote a 5* review almost a year ago after our first visit, because I was so impressed with the food. I had to add a new comment. There were only 4 of us this time and we got a reservation right away the same day. There was no wait at all this time and the restaurant was fairly busy, We had a 10 to 15 minute wait after being seated before anyone asked if we wanted drinks, we ended up having about 4 different people actually serving our table at various times. I ordered almost the same food again this time, brisket and babyback ribs, but with the«dirty rice» instead of french fries. The only thing dirty about the rice was the musty taste, it was also clearly microwave basmati rice with some kidney beans and things thrown in. I’ve been eating Dirty Rice for 40 years and this is the first time I’ve had it made out of basmati rice and with out any sort of meat(mince? chicken? sausage?) in it. And as I said, it tasted musty. The the meat was ice cold, the ribs were hard to cut. Again, I’ve been eating babyback ribs for years, never had them where I had to FIGHT to get the meat off the bones! The brisket while cold, was tender but it was swimming in a cold sauce. I went with 3 other people, they were the same about the food…“meh”. I wish I had taken another photo because the food was vastly different this time around. While talking about it this morning the person who suggested we go back to Cockadoodlemoo asked us to stop talking about it because«We should have gone to see Star Wars instead». Yep, she passed up Star Wars for Cockadoodlemoo because she’d enjoyed it so much last year. Oh well.

I basically concur with the other positive reviews of this restaurant, to which I am sure I will return. I was very impressed with the staff who were helpful and attentive. I also was entranced by the menu which has tons of great options. In the end I went for a wing/pulled pork combo with twisted fries. Wings and pulled pork weren’t the best I’ve ever had(to be fair I’ve eaten in the US a lot) but were very nice. My bf really liked the brisket which he was trying for the first time. Next time… ribs! They do burgers too so it’s definitely a multi visit place. I LOVETWISTEDFRIES. YES. Funnily enough I don’t think I’ve seen them in Manchester, I used to get them all the time at the Orange Buffalo wings truck in London(which is amazing, and in fact CockaDoodleMoo should steal their recipes). They had some good brews(forget what bf had but he said it was good) and I had some very reasonably priced and decent house red wine. Finally, we had ice cream sundaes for dessert which were both large and delicious. It was at this point where I started to notice the music which is a delightfully random mix of happy tunes. Overall the place is very reasonably priced, well laid out and serving good food well.

This place is definitely a must! The atmosphere isn’t the best, it’s very plain inside and not somewhere you go in and think ‘WOW!’ But the food is out of this world! We booked a table for 9:45 as this was the nearest time available as this place is pretty busy so book in advance! We then arrived at about 9pm and was seated straight away which was a bonus as we thought we’d have to wait a while! We ordered a drink each and later ordered our food which only took around 20⁄25 minutes to arrive. I chose a chicken burger which was delicious, and had the curly fries as a side. I was mortified when I became full and couldn’t finish it so I brought it home with me to eat later on. My fiancé ordered a burger too which he loved, he even preferred it to Almost Famous which is his favourite place to eat so that’s saying something! Be sure to check it out but beware it’s pretty hard to find parking nearby and you will definitely need to book in advance! And if you’re brave enough, give the 666 wings a go, I’m not that brave but I’m sure someone out there is! Enjoy!

Well spare of the moment fancied grabbing a bite to eat and been here before. I enjoy the food and what it offers. I had the 3 pigs hot dog because I love hot dogs. The service was quick and our sever was friendly enough. The food came and was nicely presented the pulled pork was a little dry but nothing a bit of sauce couldn’t help. I would personaly eat here again and happy to try something new of the menu. My only small critism is there is very little atmosphere during the day.

So after hearing great tales of some magical burger place just down the road from me and wanting to check it out for the past few months, a man date with a few friends was the perfect opportunity to see what all the fuss was about! And you know what — it did pretty much live up to expectations. It’s not like I’ve eaten a lack of burgers over the past few years — in fact the supply and demand chart for Manchester would be going crazy with all the latest additions trying to be the best in town — I’ve got to say though that CDM are getting there on the way to Solita/AF if maybe a little less adventurous in terms of their toppings. I went for their double bacon cheeseburger(huge — £11.95) with fries and a ginger beer(I was driving) while one of my pals had the chicken burger and the other had the amazing slow cooked beef(on top of burger) burger. All the food was fantastic, filling and perfect for a chilled out chat — even if most of it ended up down our chins… the staff were also pretty friendly and quick to serve — I’ll definitely be back sometime soon. *Extra note: they do food challenges here like their ‘666’ wing contest on a Tuesday night — if you like hot sauce, don’t mind your face melting off and just generally see yourself being a hero then I’d recommend getting yourself here sometime soon!* Wifi is: mooman2013

Came here with a few friends to celebrate a number of things going on in our lives and again, brilliant service, brilliant food, brilliant venue. Couldn’t rate this place anymore highly if we tried ! I knew we had to book in advance so for an 8pm slot on a Friday I called ahead on the Tuesday beforehand, no problem at all, still plenty of room for us. Upon arriving we were seated straight away as usual in the back half of the restaurant towards the kitchen. Love the décor in here, tables are well spaced and it’s open and light. The kitchen is open so you can see the hustle and bustle going on behind the scenes. Ordered a mix of starters, taco combo, prawns and meatballs. All cooked really well and everyone loved them. My taco combo had been missed off the order — no problem. They were very apologetic and One was on the table in under 5 mins and they took the courtesy to knock it off the bill. Great service. We opted for the meat sharer combo as out mAin, it’s £15.99(ish.) per head but you get quarter chickens, two types of sausage, ribs, wings, pulled pork and beef brisket with a choice of sides so it is more than worth it ! As ever, the quality of food was brilliant. I personally rate the beef brisket really highly here, very tender and full of flavour. Also the crispy chicken wings are amazing ! As expected there was wayyyyy too much food. The great thing about cockadoodlemoos is they offer to bag it all up for you to take it home. Which means only one thing. Pulled pork for breakfast. Can’t go wrong. We had a good selection of beers whilst here, they have a rotation of ales on and will be more than happy to show u the list. They have a good selection of cocktails too as well as spirits and soft drinks. Overall, another great experience. So glad I now live in hazel grove so I can get down here more regularly !
