Made the most of the warm weather, and ended up in Sussex for a roast Sunday lunch at the cowdray. Pleasantly surprised, lots of space to park, outside seating area as well as indoor, went for the roast lamb, didn’t have to wait long for my order. Very generously sized portion(see the picture I uploaded) and struggled to finish it, but enjoyed trying. I was too full to consider dessert. The service was good. Unfortunately, I don’t live in the area, and it was a random spare of the moment trip, so probably won’t visit that often, but I’d recommend it to someone who was in the area.

Popped in for lunch on a cycle from London to Brighton service very good, the food great. Shame I was only having a quick lunch, menu looked fantastic the risotto would be worth cycling back for again. Really nice, clean restaurant with small garden well worth a visit

This is a prime example of quality dining in a friendly pub/restaurant. The food is great and the access and parking is simple. It is popular with folks from the surrounding towns and villages and well worth a visit if you fancy a drive through the lovely Sussex countryside. Alternatively a great stopping off point if you are one of the legions of keen cyclists around the country lanes at the weekend.

I dropped in here with a friend one night for an unplanned evening meal and was pleasantly surprised. The inside of the pub is really lovely, modern and tastefully decorated with a vibrant feel to it. We had to wait for a table as it was pretty busy but the staff behind the bar were very helpful and friendly and let us know as soon as a table was available. The best thing about this place is the food — we both ordered steak and chips and we both agreed it was one of the best steaks we had ever had. The chips were to die for as well, big chunky wedges, perfectly cooked, absolutely melted in the mouth! The portion was pretty big too. I think they use locally sourced food here as well which is great. We did not have room for dessert but the dessert menu looked fabulous — I heartily recommend a visit here to try the food. Really enjoyed it.

I can recall drving past the Cowdray over the years many times, but until this week have never set foot in the place. It used to look like a large country pub with various extensions and additions but no real plan as it sprawled to accomodate more visitors. However, a refurbishment early 2008 has made a world of difference and it has been really well finished throughout, and the chef and management seem to have worked hard to provide an excellent menu to compliment the fit and finish all about and it makes for a very welcoming place. We(a party of 6) went on a rainy Monday night and it was fairly busy even then — the service was non-invasory but prompt and efficient and the food, well, that was fantastic! They featured a good amount of seafood, though not at the expense of other options, and I can certainly vouch for the scallop starter and haddock main course. Everyone in our party commented on the quality and taste of their selection but one word of warning — the desserts are sublime — make sure you leave room for one of these culinary delights, too! They even serve proper ale too, so there really isnt any shortcoming with the Cowdray — put it on your list for a meal anytime.
