More than a «chippie». Quality of menu is excellent although on the more expensive side when compared to local competitors. Service is generally excellent too with a good atmosphere in the restaurant. The take away side of the business although at busy times the waiting period can be irksome especially if you are hungry! Kingfish is a long standing chippy in Haywards Heath. There used to be a restaurant also, but they have now turned to just takeaway. I would class this fish bar a little hit or miss. Sometimes they have served top class fish and tasty chips. Other times, I have left with greasy chips that have been sitting in a scuttle and fish that seems a little rubbery. I think that some of this comes down to the day of the week, where they will tend to cook and hold some food under lamps on quieter days. This being the case, I would recommend giving them a try on a Friday or Saturday night when they are busy and cooking to order. This may mean that you have to wait a little longer, but as the saying goes«good things come to those that wait!». In this case, it rings true. The staff are also friendly, so it’s not going to be the worst thing that you could do by having a chat for 5 – 10 minutes whilst your dinner cooks.
