NOTWHAT I EXPECTED, BUT, OKAY The food is good — but when it comes to Indian food, I expect it to have some modicum of spice. This food had none. It was the blandest Indian food I have ever eaten. If you like the«idea» of Indian food, but no spice, you’ll love this place. I thought maybe the garlic Naan would have some flavor, but sadly, it did not.

The owner ‘Mo’, is a genuinely friendly & welcoming man that never seems to forget get his customers. His pledge that if you are patient, you will be rewarded with an experience not to be forgotten and wow! He certainly delivers that pledge with exquisite tasting food, amazingly attentive and friendly staff in a relaxed environment with good music. A top class restaurant and one that deserves a visit above all others.

Been meaning to get to Old Hatfield and try the Taste of India for some time, and eventually managed it yesterday. Now I am no expert on Indian cuisine, I couldn’t tell you if the spices in a dish are what they should be, or whether the dish had any resemblance to that which would be served in India, but I know what I like, and I like Indian cookery in general; and I try to ignore the calorie content having an Indian meal as an occasional treat. The meal I had here surpassed expectations. The glass of house red was ok; wouldn’t write home about it. but I only wish I could find the menu on the Net(do they not have their own website ?) so I could remind myself of the name of the main dish. But it was the hot duck Special dish which I ordered with Pilau Rice, Sag Aloo, Chana Masala, Tarka Dall, and a Garlic Nan. The flavours of all were excellent;(although, as is always the case in any Indian restaurant it seems, detecting much garlic in the Nan proves difficult, but I like bread, and suspect it isn’t a traditional Indian thing anyway). So should I give it full marks? Well based on cuisine alone it was a possibility, but there were a few gripes. Really wasn’t keen on the flies in the window, which occasionally buzzed the table. Aren’t there ultra violet fly killers around to prevent that? And I’m no expert but felt sure those fish on display were too large for the tank they are in. A possible animal welfare issue there ? Worth the recommendation for the food alone, but felt there are a few things they need to tidy up on.

This is a fantastic indian restaurant situated in hatfield. I walked past many times and it always smelt divine so thought I would give it a go. The food was outstanding and I’ve been back many times since. The decoration is a bit more modern than many other indian restaurants with even the name of the restaurant sown into the carpet! The food is reasonable priced and portions are generous. I think they also do entertainment nights where there is a singer.
