Gorgeous hotel! The grounds are like something that I imagine came out of a Jane Austen novel. We went there to take pictures for my sister’s wedding, so it was a lovely setting. We also grabbed some food from the small bar in the hotel. It was overpriced for what it was, but it was good.

I stay here whenever I am visiting our UK office in Harrow. It’s a great, affordable choice for a hotel in a otherwise hotel desolate area I’m a quiet grounds and charming building. For some it may be a little«faulty towers» but I think it adds to the charm. Breakfast is really great(the full English) and evening food in the restaurant covers most bases. Would highly recommend if looking for a place to stay in this area. And if you end up in room 219 look for my slacks which I just left behind In the closet — doh!!!

Built in 1870 and described as the shrine for Gilbert & Sullivan, Grims Dyke offers a quiet, idyllic surroundings set on 170 acres of forest and gardens on top of a hill over looking Harrow/London. Great food, nice bar, very unusual architecture, stone fireplaces and wood carvings. check out my pictures. A must see piece of history if you are in the area.

Grim’s Dyke Hotel was formerly the country residence of WS Gilbert(of Gilbert and Sullivan fame). The hotel retains most of its period features and is well worth a trip to Harrow Weald. The house was designed by Norman Shaw — the architect who also designed the New Scotland Yard building. The hotel and grounds have been used as a backdrop for many films and TV programmes(Little Britain used the music room for a Dr Lawrence and Anne sketch Anne demonstrates a hidden talent). In addition to being a beautiful venue to hold a special party, or wedding, the hotel offers a number of speciality events. For G&S afficionados, you should make a point to come along to one of the G&S evenings — every fortnight a G&S operetta is perfored, including The Mikado, The Pirates of Penzance, HMS Pinafore, The Yeomen of the Guard and Patience. These evenings also offer a three course meal so you get fed and entertained at one and the same time! Best of all, if you are coming along to one of these evenings, let me know as I’m one of the GDO chorus and would love to meet you!
