Just spent 8 lovely days at Alexa House and all I can say is that Dave and Sandra, who own this B&B in Harrogate, are not only super professionals, but they also go out of their way to make their guests feel like family! I started communicating with Dave via email several months before our actual arrival, and he was very good at communicating and planning stuff for us ahead of time. As we were travelling with a baby, he actually went out of his way to arrange for a baby car seat to be installed in the local taxi which was waiting for us at Leeds-Bradford Airport(which he also arranged). The morning breakfast is a full English breakfast with all the good stuff(eggs, bacon, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, sausages, etc.) PLUS Haddock, PLUS the biggest kippers that I’ve ever seen. There is also plenty of those great English cereals that make American cereals look wimpy in comparison as well as fruits, plenty of coffee, tea and juices and super fast friendly service. There’s also a self service honesty bar, where hard drinks, beers, etc. are available all day(you make your own drink and write it down on a bar log) for quite a bit less of what it costs in town. The B&B is within walking distance of the huge conference centre in Harrogate and downtown Harrogate and also right on the main bus line if you want to take a trip to Leeds(or to the gorgeous little village of Ripley, as we did). And there’s also free Wi-Fi! A luxury in a place where the fancy hotels can charge up to 15 pounds a day for Internet access. If you are driving, a free, private lot on the rear entrance offers plenty of free parking. In addition to the rooms in the house itself, there are several stable cottages in the rear, offering quite private accommodations(and super quiet). In a beautiful town full of B&B’s and huge hotels, Alexa House is a jewel of a find, not only because of the physical location itself, but because of the warmth and quality of service of the owners. If I could give them a 100 stars, I would!
