Great coffee, service and delicious maids of honour tarts and ice cream! Right next to the rose garden so prefect for a mid exploration break outside the palace.

Located in the gardens of Hampton Court Palace(the free bit, don’t worry), the Tiltyard Café is a pretty solid place to have lunch, tea or even a cake. It operates a kind of ‘order with a tray, wait around at the tills for your food and then walk back’ kind of system, which cases a bit of confusion as you end up with lots of people waiting around near the tills and the staff trying desperately to figure out who is waiting for what, which is why I’ve knocked a star off, but to their credit, they’re quick, efficient and I was only waiting a few minutes for my panini. The food itself is very good. My panini was piping hot with lots of melted cheese oozing out and thick slices of ham and basil nestled inside. And I had a cheesecake that was to DIE for, it was so creamy and tasty. Considering it’s the only place to eat at the Palace, they cater well for the amount of visitors too. Even though there were 5 of us, we had no trouble finding a table to seat all of us and they didn’t mind us sitting and chatting after we’d eaten for a bit. All in all, a pretty solid place to visit if you’re in the area and a definite go-to if you’re visiting the Palace itself. You can go right on back to exploring after you’ve eaten, no fuss. Beautiful.

had good lunches here on two occasions. Its in the gardens of Hampton Court Palace, but they are the free parts I think(you have to save your ticket when re-entering). Last year my two friends and I all had hot food here, I had the Moussaka I think. This March I opted for a Wild Mushroom&leek quiche which turned out to be delicious! Overall I think their range of food is good, several hot and cold dishes to choose fro, sandwiches, drinks, fruit etc. Will definitely go back in October!
