I first spotted this place when l was working at Lord’s as we drove past this places when it was pointed out to me and for nearly four months it remained on my list of places to try. Starvin Marvins is an authentic looking American theme type diner, when l worked in the states l never saw one of these trailer type places as they are so rare there, probably more of them in London. The place looks great chrome or stainless steel look, vintage signs around the walls and even a vintage juke box. The food however wasn’t the best, l had a bacon cheese burger & curly fries @ £8.50 and that was without a drink. The bun was a bought in processed sesame seed that was rather on the stale side. The burger looked like one of those pre cooked rustler that you buy from Tesco and the curly fries where nice enough, but sadly bought in also. I liked this place and saved it on my list of places, but been since told that it has closed down. I do hope that this place opens again as its hard to find a place to eat that’s different.

As an American living in London, I’ve always wanted to go to Starvin Marvins. In looks, it’s spot on for the American diner. Cool pics, great booths and a lot of tin. But, the food just isn’t as good as in the States. It wasn’t bad, don’t get me wrong, but it just wasn’t the same. It’s a fun place and worth a stop, but not sure I’ll be making the effort to go back.

Hidden on the side of the bleak A40 is this little slice of Americana. I first spotted this shiny space shuttle-looking diner on my way back into London one day and have been frequenting the place ever since. Inside, this American 50s-themed diner looks as good as it does outside. The swivel chairs, long counter and padded booths for groups; everything is as it should be. There’s even lots of memorabilia on the walls and a working jukebox. The menu comes complete with everything you can expect; burgers, hot dogs, curly fries and milkshakes. Make sure you’re hungry when you come here. The portions are large and you will definitely be full at the end. I haven’t tried everything but their burgers and milkshakes are great and you will definitely want to try them all. I do like this place a lot but it is let down by the service. I was one of only two groups of around 3 people, the other table had already been served when we were seated and it still took them ages for us to order and have our food brought to us. If they hire staff who actually enjoy their job and buy into the theme of the place, like TGI’s, then this place would be a lot busier.

What the deuce? A US-themed diner, clad in shimmering silver, serving the familiar array of burgers, pancakes, milkshakes, fries, off the relentless A40 in uninspiring Perivale? So it transpired, when, bound for out-of-town on a rainy Saturday, we turned off in search of sustenance. Full credit, first of all, to whomever had the enterprising spirit to dare to embark on such an incongruous venture. US-style diners are rare enough in central London, where there’s enough demand to make a punt on something beyond the usual suspects worth a shot. But out here, in Perivale? Respect! Inside it’s clear they’ve made an effort too. Booths line the sides of the room and old-style metal signs of Americana the walls. The menus refer to 1950s shakes and ‘world-famous’ chilli sauce. The food is cheap and charming. It’s not going to rock your world or compete with the classier diners found in central London but equally it won’t wreck your world either. I went for a burger(upgraded to Aberdeen Angus), curly fries, a strawberry shake and, as I suspected it’d be a while before I found myself trundling along the A40, a couple of pancakes too. It all varied slightly in quality: the burger edging below average, the fries and shake(in a plastic glass!) broadly average and the pancakes and maple syrup suprisingly better at just above average. Everything was slightly cheaper than in central London, particularly the burger and fries. Service was friendly if sometimes slightly forgetful. Overall, a wholly unexpected pleasant surprise. Haute cusine it isn’t, but for a novel food stop in Perivale, rather recommended.

I often passed this diner on the way to the Ace café and a few weeks ago called in with my fiancé after thinking it would be a nice stop off on the way back home How wrong was I We waited in the foyer for at least 15 minutes whilst staff just gawped at us, we were just about to leave when a waiter came over and said, yeah and showed us to a table without a word. The wait for our food was ages, seeing that there was hardly anyone in the diner, and when it did come we were not impressed, the saving grace were the milkshakes, thick and creamy and very moreish Also the jukebox could have been turned up a tiny bit more, as the atmosphere was very lacklustre All in all not a great place, overhyped and expensive.

Very disappointing … after many years of driving past this every week I visited last weekend . The staff are so unhappy it makes the whole experience depressing … The waiter must have been new although had no supervision or guidance Food not very generous in size and not inspiring and expensive . Also why do they have to serve drinks in plastic glasses cheap and tacky !!

Not overly impressed. walked in there and none of the stuff took notice of mr. Has to leave after 2 mins of just standing at the entrance counter with no one to show you to your table. Not too keen to go back.

It pains me to write this… I’ve been going to Starvin Marvin’s on and off for a few years now and it used to be one of my favorite destinations. I’m American, and I knew going into my first experience there not to REALLY expect American food as much as the British take on the experience. Still, it DOES look like an actual 60’s diner… more so than a lot of knock-offs in the States. The food was awesome, and the curly fries were like something straight out of Arby’s, so I loved going there. Alas, it’s gone downhill considerably. Over time, my partner and I found that we were increasingly unhappy with the entire experience. The last time we went there, the service was terrible, the floors were filthy, and the food was… well…gross. I Something was just… off. It was the final straw, I’m afraid. We couldn’t finish it and we haven’t been back. It’s such a shame too… the toffee shake was sooo good. I am hopeful that Starvin Marvins will get their act together again at some point and go back to good serving great food. In the meantime, I’d rather… well…starve.

Oh Starvin Marvins — a place to forget about calories and indulge in some serious carb action. The place is a cute American Diner cart, kitted out with red booths and neon — think TGI Friday’s on a roadside with a bit more 1960s kitsch and you’re half way there. Anyhoo, to the food. When I went I had a BBQ Bacon Mushroom burger with curly fries. Yum. This is complete stodge by the way. Everything is steeped in grease and it’s all the better for it. OK, so the burger was good, not great, just good. The BBQ sauce was seriously sweet, and there was a little too much of it for my liking. The curly fries were tasty but pretty generic. The service was good and the place was full of families treating the kids. The location is a bit random, literally on the side of a major road that heads out of West London. But good, if, as I was, you find yourself driving home from a boozy weekend at the parents and in desperate need of some hangover food. Starvin Marvins did the trick, and I almost ended up in a carb-induced coma. Definitely head down if you want a tasty and calorie laden burger, you won’t be disappointed.

Funky, stainless steel trailer diner set in a easy location. All the usual diner fare but the portions are generous, service fast and the prices are reasonble. Great atmosphere, helped by the 50s music.

So driving down the a40 next to the petrol station there is what looks like a big tin can!!! Its a old american train car… which is now a diner… like edd’s only better. cheaper! Plenty of booths to sit in and the staff are cool, nice burgers and wicked hot dogs… nice fries and malt shakes. Old fashioned juke box too!
