Decent enough Council run country park about 10 miles south of Edinburgh easily accessed off the A68 Dalkeith bypass. Nice walks, play park, picnics and BBQ spots. Modest café and toilets. Comes into its own when the sun shines.

Ideal miniature universe in which to wander around different landscapes — from tall grassy fields, to wandering alongside a burn under the shelter of trees. Nary a sound you will hear unless organically derived(bird, geddit?), and you can happily spend an hour so wandering around. There are picnic and barbeque areas to lay your blanket beside, and for the Girl Guides, a treat of a location to visit. Dog friendly, as well.

Definitely one of Midlothian’s hidden gems. As others have said — great adventure playground for the children and smaller playpark for the wee ones, as well as Vogrie House and the Cedar Tree Café and the garden nursery. However, there’s so much more to Vogrie than just the main walks — and I think some people tend to stick to the area around the house itself and not venture further afield, which is a pity. Taking some of the longer walks down into the Tyne valley and beyond is like stepping into a different world — you often see deer and other wildlife and it’s very peaceful and tranquil. One of our favourite places to walk the dog — and he loves Vogrie too!

Vogrie is a great park for all the family maintained by the council. Vogrie is a large park with walks through woodland area and grassed areas. There are play parks, picnic area and a BBQ area. Vogrie house sits within the grounds and has a café in the summer time. Children love Vogire it is a very safe place for them to run around and play, needless to day it can get very busy in the school holidays. Vogrie host a summer open day in August each year which has shows, stalls, competitions, a train that takes you around the park etc etc. Other attractions are the big chairs which are giant sizes and the big trike sculpture.

Vogrie Country Park is a real treasure nestled on the outskirts of Midlothian. It’s a large park which caters for families, groups of friends, nature lovers, school trips, dog walkers, keen golfers, and so on This place seems to be busy all year round, despite the weather but is particularly popular during the summer months where the place just bursts into life. The childrens adventure play area is huge(the best around) — it’s divided into areas for children of different age groups(I have seen the odd adult or 10 also enjoying this area!) There are many walking paths some of which are more challenging than others and all of which provide a vitalising, refreshing stroll amongst the splendid forests and views There is a good sized golf range within the grounds, a stunning house which has been transformed into a café and offers lovely hot or cold snacks and drinks, various bbq spots, large ponds and lots more treats within this delightful park

Excellent country park not too far from the city of Edinburgh. Vogrie has a lovely children’s adventure playground, and a miniature railway which runs during the summer. There are lovely woodland walks and a decent café in the old Vogrie House. Or bring a picnic and relax in one of the barbecue areas. If you want to have a barbecue you have to book in advance. Some nice sculptures in the grounds too. We love the big chairs and the big tricycle! Our children always love a visit to Vogrie Park, and several of the after school clubs we know of always make a visit there part of their holiday club programme, and there’s enough to keep adults happy too!
