J W Mettrick & Sons is soooo in the 21^st century. They won the award for best online butcher this year? At the Good Housekeeping Food awards (who knew that these existed, love it). They have competitions on their website to win free lots of meat. Also, they have a Twitter page. I’m in awe.
Most people however just know them as the king of butchers in this area for their locally produced/​sourced meat such as High Peak Lamb. This is how butchers should be and I hope their grand digital aspirations do not cloud this noble mission.
They have gone the way of most forward thinking butchers and also provide small lunchtime meals — from salads and cold meat sandwiches to hot snacks like their pies. Mettricks also do catering services in the local area.

They do have some very nice Tomato & Basil Sausages, If you cook them just right they get a really nice sticky coating on them. Serve them with some buttery and fluffy mashed potato and some Onion Gravy. Yum.

This butchers is awesome! great quality local produced meat. On top of this they do the best snacks and sandwiches for miles around, all made fresh to order. My partner particually likes there home made meat pasties, although you have to get there early for these as they are so popular! They also do outside catering, i have been to a HogRoast party done by them and the quality was amazing. The prices are quite high compared to the supermarket but it is well worth the money for the extra quality you get. 5 stars for here, they have even been on the telly!

Mettricks continues to grow and grow and is by far the best butchers in Glossop. There’s such a wide selection of meats and pies on offer and you can be sure that everything is of the highest quality. I like the barbeque packs they sell in the summer, they are such good value for money. They also do lunchtime specials, from pies to salads to baked potatoes with a variety of hot and cold fillings. These are delicious. As you’d expect though, demand is high and as such the queue is often right out the door. Not so handy if you fancied popping in for a quick lunch, or to get some shopping during your lunch hour. However, good things come to those who wait!
