The George Hotel has its seal of approval in my mind for being the location of various family milestone-birthday parties, thrown by my Auntie — a long term resident of Glossop. The hotel with its large bar open to the public is just across from Glossop train station and I didn’t even realise it was a hotel until I actually thought how big it was. There are two bar areas, comfortable seating and — most importantly — a cracking atmosphere. The troupe of babies and girlfriends, and family members that were present for the couple of time I’ve been here didn’t even overshadow the usual patrons of The George. And that is saying something. Nice and old fashioned… Values that is. Friendly staff, good food, good people. There’s nothing better for a pub like this to be the pick of the locals.
