With 5 kids in tow I know that there will be empty plates all round at Wagamama. With chicken and noodles for the little ones, then Katsu curry and tofu ramen for the older two — there are plenty of options for my darling little fuss pots. Good, fast, healthy food. Just what is needed sometimes.

I stopped in here with my sister and my boyfriend after the cinema one Saturday night. We originally wanted to try out Thaikhun, but for some reason I didn’t think Silverburn would still be totally packed on a random Saturday night in January. Note to self: Silverburn is always busy! Since we hadn’t booked a table there and it was full up, we ended up waiting in line for a table at Wagamama. Now I’m sure other reviews have mentioned this, but there appeared to be a lot of tables available so I’m not entirely sure why there was such a big queue in the first place. I know it probably has to do with the ratio of staff to diners, but still it seems a bit strange when you’re just standing there staring at empty tables. We finally got seated, ordered some drinks and had a wee browse at the menu. Since my sister and I have recently decided to go vegan we had a little trouble identifying which dishes we could eat. The staff where flying about the place and we couldn’t catch anyone’s eye to ask so we ended up just googling it. I decided to have the Agadashi Tofu and the yasai itame for my main. My sister got the mushroom onigiri(yes, non vegan) and the yasai itame too. The bf got his favourite dish of wok fried greens and then chicken ramen. At this point we had decided what we wanted but there was no sign of our waiter. My sister was so thirsty by this point she had to ask my bf for a drink of his bottled water because our drinks hadn’t arrived. We could see them sitting on the edge of the bar waiting to be lifted by our server — so close yet so far! Eventually we managed to catch him and get our drinks over. When ordering I had to repeat that I wanted the yasai itame NOT the chicken itame about three times before he got it right. My meal ended up being a bit of a soup-fest. I had just assumed that the agadashi tofu would be like similar dishes I’d had before — tofu with a thick sticky sauce, but this was in a bowl of soup. It was nice, don’t get me wrong, but was basically just a smaller version of my main meal. Guess I should have read the menu better! My itame was nice, but very filling. I struggled a bit at the end of the meal. The miso soup I got was FAR too salty and I had to leave it. The mushroom onigiri got glowing reviews, as did the ever popular(with us anyway) wok fried greens. At the end of our meal, we asked for our bill and were promptly forgotten about again. Actually, we asked for our bill, then about 5 minutes later the same waiter came back over to see if we wanted any desserts or drinks… When we eventually got our bill we waited another 10 minutes for a card machine until my sister couldn’t take it any longer and went up to the bar to pay. It’s by far one of the worst waiter-related experiences I’ve had in a restaurant. Wagamama staff are usually pretty attentive, but he was really the worst waiter ever. I don’t think I’ll be in a rush to be back to this branch of Wagamama to be honest. There are better food options in Silverburn.

Silverburn isn’t exactly gifted with amazing places to eat, and while this Wagamama isn’t brilliant, it’s about as good as you can get out there. It’s probably a 3.5 overall. We were there on a pretty busy pre-Christmas night, and we didn’t have a long time to wait — about 5 – 10 minutes. What’s weird is that not all of the seats were filled, they seemed to be leaving seats between everyone. It’s nice when you’re sitting down, but if you’re in a rush then you might not be a fan. The food is standard Waga’s; god quality Asian food that isn’t amazing, but is pretty solid. My Gyozas and Pad Thai was nice and tasty, but I’ve definitely had better in places in Glasgow city centre. The staff are friendly, and as attentive as they can be with the amount of people running through it. In terms of food in Silverburn, I would probably go here or Yo Sushi over anywhere else. In a sea of chains it’s probably the best that’s out there.

I used to love Wagamama so much. It was one of my favourite places to eat, and I loved trying anything and everything on the menu. But now I just think of Waga as a bit meh — so I don’t tend to go here. We had dinner here before Star Wars as I really felt like salmon and I couldn’t think of anywhere else at Silverburn to get it(other than Yo Sushi). I don’t love the seating — benches where you’ll be sitting next to strangers. Even though there was a queue for tables they don’t fill up all the seats either which is a bit strange. We had fried prawn Gyoza, steamed chicken and I had a main of salmon teriyaki noodles. Overall, I was impressed with the food — the Gyoza were fresh and crisp and the noodles had a good amount of salmon. It did need a splash of soy to give it a bit more flavour but it did the job. It is a bit expensive though — we had a starter & main each, one glass of wine &4 soft drinks for £50. Ouch. That being said, I did like the food and left full and content. Waga is never going to be my food-destination of choice, but at Silverburn where chain places are the only option, Waga is at the better end of the bunch.

Friday night my partner and i literally flipped a coin in the middle of Silverburn to decide where to eat. Wagamama’s was the winner and we were both pleased as we were excited to give it another go. Our other experience at Wagamama’s in the city centre was SO abysmal i won’t even review it, it wasn’t the food but the customer service(three couples walked out that night) I am relieved to report the customer service at this venue is of a much higher standard, the kind that will actually impress you. I watched the other tables and all the servers were fantastic. Our lovely waitress helped me decide on a green curry type dish after letting me know the teriyaki chicken i was go for was made with thigh(no thanks) We had a starter which was delicious, pork bun was devoured and i wished i had ordered a plate of them for my main. The miso soup, tasteless. My main was… lackluster and the flavour was provided only by the chillies. The white rice was a tad hard and I had to start eating without my partner as our mains were brought out close to 10 minutes apart. I remember thinking at the end of the meal that i felt pretty unsatisfied. It came to 38 pounds and i thought of all the other places i would have liked to have spent that money at. Three star only because of the amazing servers. The food was bland and boring and on par with a watery home cooked curry. Long story short, it was okay however i can’t say I’m planning my next visit back.

I’ve been to Wagamama’s a few times and have found the staff and the quality of food to be very good each time. The menu is exotic but familiar at the same time and should encourage the stuffiest of diners to try something just 1 step beyond their usual Chinese or Thai favourites. I find the price a little bit high(especially for fruit smoothies) but the portion size and quality just about makes up for it.

living so close to Silverburn means we often pop in for a quick bite or takeaway after a busy week at work. My husband and I have always enjoyed every meal we have when dining in the restaurant, but have to say takeaway is really hit or miss with food consistently being bland, greasy, cold and underseasoned. So much so in fact that we now refuse to get takeaway(it’s overpriced too I feel). However, when we sit in I often order the chicken raisukaree and my husband gets the chicken katsu curry along with some gyoza — they are always lovely :)

Those of us of a certain vintage will remember the fuss when Gap first opened in Glasgow about twenty years ago. The thrill of being able to browse racks of chinos and hoodies may have been real, but it only lasted a short while before we realised that the range was limited and that better value versions were often available elsewhere. The same thing is true, I’m afraid, of Wagamama. Welcomed with some fanfare to Glasgow a few years back, the novelty has quickly worn off and this chain store restaurant is exposed for what it always was; a not so cheap western knock-off of an authentic Japanese noodle bar. Let me first say that the ingredients are always fresh and well cooked and the service, such a it is, not bad. But the menu is poor, each item being is essence either the one rice or noodle dish with a different sauce, and the prices far too high for what is meant to be basic canteen style fare. Disposable chopsticks and paper place settings may be fine in a budget restaurant, but are out of place when the bowl of noodle soup that comes with them costs a tenner. In a previous review I likened Wagamama to eating a pot noodle in the student canteen and I saw nothing in my most recent visit to revise that opinion. There are many noodles bars in Glasgow, each one of which will offer better choice and value.

Love this wagamama above all the rest. Sometimes its a bit hit & miss with the timing of the service but generally prefer this to the one in town. You just can’t get the same dishes in any other restaurant, believe me, I’ve tried!

This is the most consistent wagamama I have ever been to as I find the one in town hit or miss. Try the duck guyozo also the Raw juice is very very good!

I’ll hold my hands up to being one of the fussiest eaters out there! I don’t like unusual or spicy things! I like plain yummy and simple! So when I first tried wagamama I was very nervous and didn’t want to waste my boyfriends time by me taking two bites and leaving the rest! However luckily he is the opposite from me and is far more adventurous, he convinced me to give it a go! At first I panicked when I seen the chop sticks on the table! I have tried this art before and really it was embarrassing I got them taken off me without consent before I done any more damage! So not being qualified enough to use the chop sticks I was put at ease when the friendly waitress offered us the option to use them or to use cutlery! Guess what I choose? I have been quite a few times now and have tried many different dishes, proving that you don’t have to be as adventurous as bear grills to eat here! unlike half the things he eats, the food here is extremely tasty and freshly made I cannot fault it at all! The food is great the service is great it’s just a tad over priced.

I went to Wagamama’s in Silverburn last night for dinner and after amazing customer service I just had to review it! I’ll be honest, we got there pretty late, around 9 o’clock and we had wanted to go to Nando’s but when we got there we were met by a rather rude waitress who told us they were closed so we decided to give Wagamama’s a whirl and see if they were still serving. To be honest, I wasn’t too excited at this prospect as I’ve not had very good dining experiences in the city centre branch of late which forced me to write a 2 star review which I rarely do. Everything about the city centre branch sucks but I was pleasantly surprised by it’s counterpart in Silverburn. The girl who served us was so friendly, she even offered to take a picture of me and my friend gorging on noodles as she saw my camera sitting on the table. I thought that was really sweet of her. She was so friendly, I can rarely remember a time where I’ve been served by someone so nice and it really makes a change. I opted for a coconut based soup with prawns and my friend got chicken udon noodles. The portions were a lot more generous than those usually served in the city centre branch and both had more chicken and prawns than the measly amount I’ve had in the past. We also had a side of peas in the pod with a chilli seasoning and they were amazing! I could have eaten them all night. The only reason I’m only giving a four star is because I think they prices are a bit too expensive for what you get and I can imagine this branch would get a bit hectic at peak times as it’s rather cosy but altogether superior to the branch in town in every single way. Thumbs up!

This is a new Wagamama for Glasgow, located in the Silverburn shopping centre. As with most places in Silverburn the restaurant is child friendly and the staff are very happy to help you with your pram and provide you with a high chair that clips onto the table. The tables are long canteen like tables with benches, so not the most comfortable for lazing over a lunch, but for a quick bite it is ok. The food is filling and comes very quickly once you have ordered. The usual menu of soups and noodles. If you would like cutlery rather than chopsticks you just have to ask! It is quite reasonably priced.
