Victoria Bridge is Glasgows oldest fully functional bridge, and sits on the site of the city’s oldest bridge location. It connects the Gorbals, just at Glasgow Sherrif Court /Central Mosque, with Stockwell Street /Clyde Street. This is probably one of the grubbiest of Glasgows bridges, and certainly my least favourite — but you get some great views from it. You can see right along to the damm in the East, and almost as far along as the SECC/Hydro area in the West. Especially at night, when the bridges are lit up, it’s a great place to have a wander round. On summer days, you will be able to see loads of people catching some rays on the grassy bits of ground that run alongside the river. Something that every Glasgows uses, but few realise just how significant it has been to the city’s history.
