This is a great place to get a high end takeaway lunch for a very reasonable price, and I like to treat myself to the occasional lunch from here. Main course with a couple of generous portions of salad will set you back 4.50 or a bit over a fiver. Recently I’ve had cold salmon with potato salad and a second salad I can’t remember, pork belly with rice instead of salad, a decently proportioned chicken leg with celery and apple salad and sweet potato and chili. All of it tasty, and always enough food that I haven’t still been hungry afterwards. You’d pay more for a slightly disappointing meal from nearby chains. There are tables and I strongly suspect it’s also a solid choice for a sit down lunch, but I’ve always got my food to go. In my experience staff are businesslike rather than effusively fakey-nicey, which I think I prefer.

My friends are always dropping by Wee Guy’s for brunchy goodness, so I felt I had to remedy this situation and get there myself! Meeting a friend in George Square, we needed food, so off to Wee guy’s we went, a mere minute away. Inside, the café is airy and welcoming, with really cool images of the film shoot for World War Z which took place on the street outside and in George Square when Glasgow doubled for Philadelphia! The food is clearly fresh and made on premises, not bought-in. Offerings include breakfasts, cakes and pastries, hot mains, exotic salads, and plenty vegetarian choices. I chose a warm veggie pastry with two salads deal, with a coffee. My friend went for tea and scone. We both devoured our food, it was awesome. Wee Guy’s is a fantastic independent café well worth checking out for a healthy bite when you’re in the city centre.

After a couple more visits to Wee Guys I’ve decided that yes, I am a fan. The steak pie, mash and beans might have been the turning point. You’ll never eat a steak bake after this! I find the service a bit awkward and not the friendliest(e.g. I paid for my lunch with a £20 note which the waitress checked twice by holding it up to the light. I really wanted to tell her that if it was fake she wouldn’t be able to tell by doing that but ended up just standing there like a lemon) However the food is great and if you compare it to the other eateries in the area it offers a little bit extra for your money.

This is a favourite breakfast spot — either to sit in and enjoy the chilled atmosphere, or to take away and curl up on the sofa with tea. Our regular weekend breakfast/brunch call is for rolls and scrambled eggs and square sausage. One of the best take away spots in Merchant City. This is a little gem of a café. Service is great and friendly. The large tables make it good for a group to come and eat — or you might find yourself sharing your table with a few strangers — I actually quite enjoy that. Or you can opt for a window seat, or a small snug table to the right of the counter. Food here is great and made fresh as you order. Or if you just want a coffee and a Tunnocks Tea Cake, this is a good place to check out. A great location, but also conveniently off the beaten track that you need to know where to find it — if only there was an app for that!!!

Dropped in here after arriving in Glasgow for a quick dinner before heading out. Had a brilliant beef pie with mash and beans, and it was just what the doctor ordered. Topped off with a coffee I was set. Nice central location, but you’ll miss out of your not looking for it. Mostly cakes and sandwiches, but you’ll find something more substantial if you need it. Well, I’m off to explore!

Always enjoy dropping in here. A fine central location. Lots of mouth watering looking home made items for a light lunch. I had spicey lentil soup today, followed by green tea. Staff helpful. Snug and convenient.

This is a wee gem of a place for brunch or to work in. I had quite possibly the biggest & best traditional full Scottish breakfast I’ve come across in Glasgow to date here. The«works» included tattie scone, Lorne(square) sausage, black pudding, beans, bacon, link sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms, eggs«any way» and probably more that I can’t remember right now. The only thing not involved, which could improve things, was haggis. I’m talking massive portion size folks — no need to eat for rest of the day! Plus, tomato sauce is served up in giant plastic tomatoes — cannot go wrong with that in the kitsch stakes in my book! What makes this differ from the rest? The walls are adorned with signed Hollywood movie posters as the owner worked in film catering for years before returning to Glasgow to set up shop. This makes for a fun talking point or something to stare at if procrastinating over a laptop. The vibe has US diner influences but definitely retains a modern«Glasgow style» vibe. The location is cool and has floor to ceiling windows, which means it’s great for people watching. It was pretty quiet when I visited on a Saturday morning but takeaway trade was brisque. Staff are friendly and unpretentious. Would definitely return for lunch as soup and sandwich options looked great.

Another lunchtime treat this week. A trip to Wee Guys for a good hearty lunch and a gander at the cake selection. As always they did not disappoint. The chiller was full of freshly made sandwiches and baguettes to be paired with the very reasonable soup and sandwich deal. However we were not to be swayed, eyes on the prize here pals… that steak pie is coming home with me baby. Steak pie, beans and mash for £4.50! Not bad when you consider less than health options nearby which are more expensive and much less YUM. Not quite content with a minor food coma we picked a generous slice of cake to seal the deal. Post lunch naps here we come! As always the staff were very pleasant and happy to chat about the food on offer. Or take out was ready after only a short wait — personally I’ve never had a bad experience with Wee Guys takeout wait times though. Another Beezer of a lunch

I finally went for lunch! Felt like something warm, so I had chili con carne with rice. The chili con carne was good, but not that spicy. The rice was somewhat uncooked. I would expect a deli to be able to cook rice… I also feel like the service’s generally been a bit mediocre at my visits. I haven’t really felt welcome in the same way as I do in other cafés. I’m afraid, I have to bump down a star.

I’ve had the pleasure of having a quick«brunch» here and I can honestly say I was very impressed, after ordering the waitresses were quick to survey very friendly, attentive and always helpful. The only reason that this venue has a four star review instead of a five star review is because of the size of the portions, I was expecting something bigger and would only return for a quick bite every so often.

Stumbled across it when going for a wander through town and it was the most perfect little stop for lunch, with such a nice peaceful atmosphere and friendly girls at the counter. I was torn between the quiche and the filo but the salads that came with it were absolutely delicious, as was the butternut, spinach and feta filo pastry. With a delicious and filling lunch coming up to a mere £5.40, I shall most definitely be back soon!

When I think of somewhere that goes by the name ‘Wee Guy’s,’ I think of the classic Glasgow charm, an undeniably warm welcome and that ferocious friendliness Glaswegians know and love. Needless to say, Wee Guy’s lived up to all that its name suggests. It was genuinely lovely to have been greeted by a friendly young man who asked if this was our first visit(it was!) before explaining how the order system worked. — You order at the counter before fetching any cold drinks from the fridge. No awkward ‘is it table service or not?’ confusion here. — It was made super clear from the start, and all with a smile too. I just couldn’t resist the fresh deli counter with all number of delicious offerings. After many a ‘hum’ and a ‘haw’ I finally settled on the spinach, feta and butternut squash filo with two accompanying salads.(Fennel pesto and olives & snow peas with hazelnut and orange dressing. — Mmm!) For a mere five gold coins and forty pence, this was a fine, fine plateful and made for a glorious lunch; wholesome, warming and jam-packed full of delicious flavours. — And generous, with just enough room for cake afterwards. And how could I resist the spiced carrot and pistachio cake? Quite simply, I couldn’t. What followed was a heavenly slice of carrot and pistachio goodness. It was so light and fluffy — as the best cakes are — and the pistachio and spice flavours really carried through. I savoured it and savoured it, but, alas, the slice was no more. Now all I have are sweet, sweet memories and a hope that the cake winds up on the Wee Guy’s cake cabinet again someday soon. Till then, you’ll find me peeking in every time I pass by, dreaming of another slice. Yes, that’s me staring longingly at the baked goods. — Hello! I want to come back for lunch. And I want to tell all my friends; Wee Guy, you’re some guy!

This place is lovely for a light bite, whether breakfast or lunch, naughty or less naughty. Lovely food and great service. The Latte is truly delicious and the rolls on sausage or black pudding come highly recommended by me. It’s informal setting and décor is great for relaxing and catching up with friends.

Popped in here today for brunch with David A. Still recovering from the awesome Unilocal 10th Anniversary Bash last night. I went for sausage/potato scone roll — tasty but totally dripping in oil. And exactly what I needed! It’s a lovely biggish café and the staff were really friendly. Best latte I’ve had in ages :) I’ll be back — I want all of the cakes they had on display!

What a cute wee café, took me right back to how it felt to live in Glasgow. Not quite upcycled, but still with that lived-in, homely feel that made it comfortable and approachable. The salad bar had lots of nice tasty options, and there were lots of sandwich options and AMAZING looking cakes(which sadly I couldn’t have, gluten free woes). The salad I took away was tasty though. With it’s location just off of George Square, it’s handy for city-centre shoppers or folk coming in to Glasgow from the day from the train station(about 2 minute walk across George Square from the train station). Ideal!

I was a few doors down and promised myself a wee visit on the way past. Nicely decorated with various film posters dotted around the walls, with plenty of seating would make an ideal place for large groups. There is a good selection to choose from the menu with specials board & stocked up fridge with boxes salad boxes & cakes and home baking to sit in or to go. There is a good varied selection to choose from on the breakfast menu from filled rolls to eggs Benedict or the full Scottish. I did notice a member of staff wearing a massive set of headphones(beats by dre) while serving at the same time. Overall good place and well worth putting on your list of places to visit in the city centre.

Popped in for a breakfast meeting as I’d heard good things and there was free wifi. I’m a big fan of Guy’s so was keen to try out Wee Guy’s. Ordered two rolls and settled in to our table. Wifi signal was strong and we had no problem with it during our meeting — always a plus when free wifi sometimes means you get dropped at other places. I got a double yolk(lucky me!) fried egg and tattie scone roll. The rolls were crispy and fresh and my egg was perfectly cooked. I know a roll is a roll but you can tell the difference between a roll here and one at your local corner greasy spoon. The great ingredients really stand out and make for a great breakfast. I’d recommend it and look forward to coming back and trying lunch!

This place is great! Walking in, it already felt like home with butcher block tables and cases of drinks and baked goods to choose from! The menu is scribbled on to chalk boards just beyond the counters and movie posters adorn the walls, giving this wee café a more personalized touch! The staff were very friendly and willing to help in a moments notice. My friends and I all got the full Scottish breakfast! I’ve recently become a fan of beans with breakfast, and they were lovely, but I just can’t seem to get on board with blood pudding. We all took a bight just to get the whole experience down, but there’s just something off putting, no matter how decent the flavor about eating cooked blood. I ordered my eggs fried and had brown toast along side a very dry piece of latke, an over done potato pancake, a super dry square sausage, bacon and some rather tasty sausage links and mushrooms. I’m not one to eat ketchup or brown sauce with my meals, so everything I eat is taken at face value. For the price, what I was given was enjoyable, although I might need to expand my sauce pallet to get around all the dry meats and potatoes. All in all, the company of my two friends made the meal absolutely fab, the food was decent and I could imagine myself going back for a quick bite or a cuppa.

I was in town for some business then realised I was pure starving, I was bad and had no breakfast that morning. Tut tut! As I was in the area I remembered that this wee place had not long opened up. To my surprise it was the former Fressh café, the sign is still there above the door. I remember this being an awesome wee place before, especially after the samples at the Elite Event here a couple of years ago. So I was quite curious to see what was going down in the Wee Guy’s Deli. FACTOID! — This was the Production Office for World War Z, they were based downstairs. I learned this at a Bafta Masterclass I went to last month. Very cool! It was quiet as I came in mid morning. I was greeted by a lovely staff member who could see the confused look on my face. I explained I was in that place of brunch or lunch decision. They had many delicious goodies laid out before me making me even more confused. Oh what to have?! The girl was a great help and let me know what was offer so I decided to opt for the lunch take away deal of a soup, sandwich and can of juice for £3.50. So I had the most enticing soup I’ve had in a while, yellow split pea and bacon. Ooh it was a mighty yum! I had a lovely fresh cheese and coleslaw piece and a cheeky wee can of Bru to wash it down. The cooked breakfasts look good too, I’ll definitely be back to sample some more goodies. A friendly place and tasty option to try out if your in town.

Came in for a second visit and a proper sample of the food and tea, and was over the moon with how delightful the staff were. Super friendly, helpful, conscientious and thoughtful — it really made my day when I wasn’t feeling very well, and a nice smile and warm welcome made all the difference! I planned to stay for a couple of hours for a meeting and to do some work(they have free wifi, just ask for the password). It was pretty quiet and it was a great place to get stuff done. I had a really tasty bowl of porridge and got berries on top, it was freshly made and delicious — I’ve only ever had porridge at home, so it was good to see I’m doing it right. Ha! I also had a cup of tea(served in the awesome red teapot) and the staff member made sure I had plenty of hot water to keep topping up my tea. They have a great selection of sandwiches, rolls, salads and hot food. You can pop in for takeaway or have a seat and chill out. I like the seating — big bench tables which seat probably 8 people, so it’s a good way to mix and mingle(if you want!). There are smaller tables to the right as well as stools if you want to gaze out the window. This is very high on my list of awesome places in Glasgow, I am a super fan! Note: they take Swipii cards.
