I really love the Hidden Gardens as it is a green oasis for the community, open to all, with many delights to see. It has been there since 2003 and sits at the back of the Tramway arts centre, and was developed to be a dedicated peace garden from reclaimed land which once formed part of the tramworks(the chimney used to be the boilerhouse for the depot). Each time I visit the garden I seem to see something new, I am no horticulturalist but I enjoy wandering peacefully through the plants and trees, watching the birds and perhaps sitting for a while. I have attended events here before, watching multicultural arts performances and even sharing food cooked in huge pots by the local community. Two of the highlights for me are the xylotheque(a pice of public art which forms an archive of all the native Scottish woodland trees, designed on Japanese principles) and also the avenue of trees which people have hung wishes on, everything from wishing wellness for themselves and others to «I wish for electoral reform». Don’t miss this special space, it is well worth a look and you would never guess that you were in the middle of a busy city.
