Update required! So, I had a Casio watch which needed repairing and I visited here. Initially Robert took a look at it and let me know the bad news — he couldn’t fix it. He suggested sending it off to Casio to see if they could work the magic required, and warned me that the parts could be expensive if they were able to fix it. I got a call a little over a week later with an update — they couldn’t fix it. Bummer! I popped in to collect it, and even though Robert had spent a lot of time helping me, and trying to fix my watch, he insisted there was no charge. Brilliant communication together with warm and friendly customer service meant that even though I was pretty upset my watch couldn’t be fixed, I left with a huge smile on my face. I couldn’t recommend Stevenson’s any more.

Stevenson’s has existed for many years on Byres Road, and although the shop fronting looks a little outdated and tired, appearances are normally deceiving, so be prepared to find many diamonds in the rough! Not that it looks rough, or that the diamonds in the shop window are exactly hidden — this place blings from blocks away! There is a wide range of jewellery on display in the windows, from potential engagement rings to more simple and elegant designer necklaces. There are a lot of older fashioned styles available in Stevenson’s if that’s what you’re looking for. Bear in mind, however, that they also stock an impressive range of more contemporary designs, including Pilgrim and Rennie Mack(my favourites). They also sell Hot Diamonds which make lovely gifts on special occasions such as 18th and 21st birthdays. Hot Diamonds are very subtle in deisgn, and elegant without being stuffy. On the contrary, they are very modern and unique in design, much akin to fellow big names such as Links of London. So I guess what I’m trying to say is there is something for everyone in here, and with Stevenson’s stocking many different styles of jewellery, you won’t be hard pushed to find something you like in here.

I’m guilty of long, lingering window shopping sessions at Stevenson’s too. Indeed, this very hobby(I take it very seriously) has been the issue of discontent between me and the boy more than once. While, I thought this was due to me stopping suddenly mid-stride to peer in the window; the boy was in shock, horror and panic mode thinking I was looking at rings which sparkled(if you know what I mean). If only, I was a good liar — the fun I could have had. Anyway, what actually manages to catch and hold my attention in Stevenson’s windows is a marvellous array of gold, silver and stone filled jewellery. My particular favourites are their silver earrings and the selection of silver jewellery they have inset with amber. Lovely. It’s also a good place to go for a last minute gift or a stocking filler as you’re bound to spot something for anyone, no matter how fussy. Furthermore, their prices are well varied to suit any budget. So you can decide how much someone’s birthday or Christmas is really worth, if you should feel the need.

Stevenson’s Jewellers is a lovely little jewellery shop in the heart of Byres Road. In fact, I can’t walk past this place without stopping for an extended gaze in the windows. Forget minimalism, Stevenson’s squeeze as many things as possible into their shop. The windows are practically bursting with jewellery and watches — and even the most difficult to please will find something they like. Plus, this place caters to a range of different budges — for both jewellery and watches. Earrings and bracelets start from under a tenner(and go up to a whole lot more!). Similarly, their watch collection ranges from high end brands such as Rotary and Accurist down to brands that cost around the £20 mark. They have some lovely charm bracelets for £12.99 that would make a fabulous present for any girl in your life. Worth a visit! Or at least a long gaze into the window…
