I was so sure I’d already reviewed St Vincent BC! Oh well… I’ve been frequenting this bowling club for long and weary; both my dad and borther are now members and my uncle and grandpa have also been members in the past also. The halls have hosted various May family occasions; wakes, birthdays and my dad has threatened in the past that if ever I get married, this is where we’re having the reception if he foots the bill! I might be biased since St Vincent BC has been an integral part of my life, but it is genuinely a brilliant club, filled with brilliant people. You can hire the hall for up to 100 people for any occasion, and the lovely catering ladies will also offer their services to prepare either a buffet, canapes or a sit-down meal for a pretty good price. You can also(provided you let the club know) bring in caterers or food from nearby establishments to cater your event; the club, in the past, has had Old Salty’s, Crabshakk and Mother India’s catering for them in the past. As is befitting any bowling club, the drinks prices are crazy cheap and there is generally a pretty good selection on hand. If you’re organising an event and you need a specific drink, John on the bar can usually help you out in finding it and stocking it for you. The members and the board in the club are all true gentlemen(Again, I may be biased since I’ve known many of them since I was a wean!) — no problem is too big or small and they are more than willing to help you with anything. They are always more than happy to welcome new members of any age, so if you fancy coming down to try your hand at lawn bowls, just give them a call and someone can show you the rules and lend you some bowls!
