Very disappointed with service on lunch today. Bare minimum in terms of customer service received with hardly any pleasantries exchanged. Having never been before we came to the counter to order, I asked for a baked potato to be told very sharply you were all out(at 1:15pm on a weekday when you serve the business district), I then brightly asked for soup and sandwich to sit in, to be told again very sharply just sit down and someone will be over(having never been I did not know it was table service — no need to be rude). The waitress taking the order seemed inconvenienced to have to tell me the soups because I missed the board, no one said I had to ask for salad in my sandwich so I received a very plain sandwich. Soup to the cook’s credit was lovely if a tad salty(sweet potato). My other half said the chicken soup was also nice. When we finished we went back to the counter to pay as no one came over, no ‘how was your lunch’ or any pleasantries, simply ‘where were you’ and then read out our items quickly, told us £10, and then looked offended that we gave over £10 exactly and no tip! We didn’t even get a thank you and as soon as the £10 note was snatched from my partner’s hand the girl serving looked to the person next in the queue with ‘what can I get you’. Highly disappointed with the whole interaction, particularly because other reviews seem to say everyone is so friendly, but a ‘please’ and a ‘thank you’ go a long way!

I would give 3.5 if I could! It’s hard to find a decent, straightforward café in town so this place has a real purpose. It does massive portions of tasty homemade soups, always showing whether they are vegan, veggie etc. There’s a great choice of freshly prepared sarnies with a conscious effort to offer low fat choices– a big ‘win’ for me! The teas are brought to you in mini pots with cups and saucers, which makes me feel like I’m back in the land of the living and not in some overpriced haunt. I meet my mum or my BF here in my lunch hour sometimes and it does the job nicely.

Coffee and a small cake under £3 not bad, but you cant sit an hour before it closes not so good when there is a down pour. A lot of the items are fron packets with no effort made except from the home made soups and sandwitches.

Used an online deal website to get a voucher for soup/sandwich & a coffee for the bargain price of £3! The food was great couldn’t fault it, and the service was excellent too, the overall feel of the place is a bit grubby tho, greasy spoon rather than trendy café which is a shame as it’s great value even without a voucher and always has fresh soup & smoothies on the go.

Soups-you sells soup, and they sell soup that has nice chunky bits in it. I had country veg soup which was full of flavour. I even got a free little roll, I think they felt sorry for me as I only had the change in my pocket for the soup, which couldn’t have been that expensive. There were other lunch like snackeys that were available to buy but I just went for the soup as the cheapest item. I would say go for a bite to eat on your lunch or as a snack, nothing more. I was still hungr even after the soup and had to go to greggs for a cupcake.

So many good shop names than unmercifully pun their way into the public consciousness. This one got my attention quite easily. Not a big fan of soup, only started eating it very recently so this place was a bit of an adventure for me. and. I didn’t really like it. Can’t even remember what it was. Carrot and coriander perhaps. I hear it is a bit hit and miss, day to day. Busy enough wee place though, maybe my palette isn’t refined enough yet to make a valid judgement. Depending how you look at it, it’s either ‘cramped’ or ‘cosy’. I will opt for the latter

I have always been a fan of Soups U, favouring their great selection of tasty and filling soups, that cater for the calorie conscious and veggie customers. Hidden away just off Sauchiehall Street, opposite M&S, Soups U is worth a wee visit for a cheap and tasty lunch, including soup and sandwich deals to sit in or takeaway. This cosy little café is always queued out the door but worth the wait for some homemade hearty soup that will fill you up ’til dinner time.

I first popped in here when I was rushing to work and after a cup of tea to take in with me. I had walked past it so many times and never really noticed it enough to venture in until my tea frenzy came over me on that cold day. Service was super fast, efficient and friendly — perfect for me in my mad hurry. I did have just enough time, however, to sniff in some of that delicious soup and the next time I went back I opted for a cup of it instead. It was warm, satisfying and comforting — just what you want from soup! I would probably only opt for take-away though as this place is teeny tiny and can get very cramped.

If you don’t think there are many independent and affordable cafes in the centre of Glasgow –then think again. Hidden on a side street off Sauchiehall Street, is Soups U. It’s just round the corner from Barretts, next to the Sauchiehall Centre car park. It’s therefore very conveniently placed for either a shopping pit stop or a bite to eat during your lunchbreak. Despite being a little hidden away — Soups You is really busy. It’s quite small too, so it’s not always easy to get a table. Turnover is pretty quick though, so you shouldn’t have to wait too long for one. As well as offering soups and sandwiches to take away, Soups U does do table service in the café. The café is filled with blackboards listing the current soups(don’t worry, lentil is always on offer), and they even have a suggestions board where you can add your preferred soup for the next week. We ordered two soups — one of them with the sandwich meal deal, and had barely settled into the table before two steaming bowls were set before us. We sampled the lentil(traditional and very tasty) as well as the Chicken Noodle soup(which was jam packed with chicken, mmm!). My only gripes were that the décor left a little too much to be desired, and that it wasn’t as cheap as I had expected it to be — £10 for two soups, half a sandwich and a glass of juice. However, with soup that good, I could overlook it! Soups U also have a large selection of cakes — which I have yet to try!

«Soup, soup, a-tasty soup soup, a-tasty, carrot and corriander…» Ah yes, the Mighty Boosh have taught us well. Soup is awesome, ergo, anywhere that sells soup that tastes good, is also awesome. Such as Soups-U. A hidden gem — just of Sauchiehall Street’s shopping presinct — it’s fantastic for a quick bite, or lunch(their butternut squash, chilli and coconut soup is AMAZING!). They even do wee meal deals for soup and sandwiches. Only problem? It’s a bit small, so can feel crowded. Not for the claustophobics amongst us.
