I’m not really into shoes, I’m really not. And I really don’t like shopping at all either. But when I go into Schuh I do ooh and aah a bit over their lovely shoes. They have a great range, and some really fun shoes. I particularly like the Irregular Choice brand for fancy shoes, and on this visit I noticed that Schuh have started doing their own range of similarly styled, very fun and pretty shoes. But anyway, I was here for a pair of sensible and sturdy flat shoes, not some sequinned and be-ribboned fripperies. And they have sensible shoes too. They also have other brands I like like Rocket Dog and Blowfish. So although I’m not really into shoes, I really could fill my boots(sorry) with shoes here. Because they have such a big range, as a retail outlet, Schuh does feel a bit cramped — there are shoes everywhere you turn, and there’s not really a free flow round the shop, so leave your big shoulder bag at home if you don’t want to wreak havoc with the free standing displays. I bought a pair of Doc Marten Mary Janes. My boyfriend is going to hate them because they look like shoes I had for school in 1978 and that’s not sexy. They’re big and clumpy but I think they’re quite cool, and anyway we’re coming up for winter, so that’s what I got. They didn’t have my size in stock, but they have a good service where they will order them for you and if you don’t like them you can return them with no quibble at all within a year. While you can order them to be delivered to your home(for free!) I had them ordered in to the shop, which is really convenient as if you don’t like them, the return will take two minutes. The staff are really helpful. Maybe a bit too helpful in that within 2 minutes of being in the shop, you WILL be asked at least 4 times if you ‘need any help’. And I get the distinct feeling that they WILL tell you that your choice of shoes is the best choice of shoes ever in the world even if you have the most hideous creations known to shoe-kind on your feet. They guy who I got today had some quite funny banter though, so I almost even enjoyed my shoe buying experience. I might even go back for some cute little Rocket Dog ankle boots I saw. WHAT’S HAPPENINGTOME!!!

Popped in here for a new bag today(finally getting a SENSIBLE bag for once) and couldn’t give up on the amazing MARVEL messenger bag they have in store. I wouldn’t normally do a review of a shop, yet the service I got in here was really good. Schuh have a wide variety of shoes — all on the slightly alternative side — which I love. You can get brands such as Vans, Converse and Skechers as well as my personal favourite — Irregular Choice. The staff are attentive, quick to say hello, and the young gentleman who served me today was, if anything, a bit too over-enthusiastic. They do mobile card payments so you don’t have to pay a bill, and if you’re happy giving out an email address, they’ll email you the receipt which I think is a great idea! Lovely wee shop.

This store is located just east of the corner of Argyle Street and Buchanan Street. It’s only a small store, however it is well stocked, as it sells the same amount of shoes as the other stores. And they do seem to have a tardis round the back so if you can’t find what your looking for just ask! The staff are friendly and it is always well staffed so you shouldn’t spend much time waiting.

Schuh does a very good job of arranging their window display with such pretty shoes, that you can’t help but stop for a look, and be drawn inside. You’ll find the biggest brands here, including sensible shoes such as Havainas and Hush Puppies, and then the not so sensible shoes such as Irregular Choice. Whatever your style and whatever footwear you fancy, Schuh has a massive selection and staff that are falling over themselves to assist you in making your purchase.

Schuh dominates the alternative section of the shoe market with their high stocking of Irregular Choice, Red or Dead and Fly London. Therefore their customers are a mixed bag, with everything from divas scouting for Ugg boots to middle aged ladies looking for comfy sandles. The Irregular Choice choice however is worth going for a look alone. Over the years I’ve picked up some fantastic shoes here, some cracking boots and unusual white pumps with plastic black bows to mention a few. The price range is very varied, so suits most budgets too. I’m a fan for sure.

Schuh does well. Very well, actually. There are lots and lots and lots of pretty shoes to look at, and touch, and try on. Far too many that I like infact. It’s not just women I have seen drooling over the shoes here — the guy’s section upstairs is just as bad — «why have a red pair of converse when you can get a red and white pair… wait! Even better — they’ve got a red pair, with white detailling and black laces… WAIT! What is this?! Vans that are… brand new and limited edition?! AHHH!» I’ve seen grown men confused with the choice of shoes. It’s not surprising really, there are alot. I often spend around half an hour wandering from shoe to boot to flipflop, trying to imagine what I would wear several of the more daring pairs with. Ahh, if I had all the money in the world, those Robot Irregular Choice shoes would be mine. They would be the pride of my IC collection… I bought my first pair of Irregular Choice shoes from Schuh a mere 5 years ago — and I still have them and wear them now. A sign of true love? Most definitely. Schuh, you have done well.

Schuh is the best shoe shop. From the moment you walk in, its wondrous wares woo you. It’s like being a kid in a candy store, a waen in a sweetie shoap. Or a woman in a shoe shop. Brand names assault you: Addidas, Nike, DC’s, Converse, Dr Martens, Irregular Choice, Havaianas, New Rock. It would be impossible not to find a shoe you like in here. From the moment my eager 12-year old hands carried my first pair of DC’s out of here I was in love. The boys I tried to impress with the shoes did not stay, nay. But still Schuh remains. I come in regularly to gaze adoringly and sometimes stroke the velvety bits of Irregular Choice shoes, until the nice lady that works there gently guides me towards the door. In the cold light of day, Schuh can sometimes be a bit on the expensive side for a pauper student like me. Oh, and can somebody turn the music down, just a little?
