I have to admit I am surprised by the other two reviews for this store. The clothes in Rage remind me of the rubbish sections in Debenhams which are aimed at my mum’s age group but she is too fashion aware to buy into it. You know the Red Herring, Betty Jackson and Julien Macdonald kind of clothes? There is nothing wrong with them exactly. They are just a bit blah, nothing to write home about. I feel the same about Rage. You can tell that the clothes are good quality and well made but they are just lacking any real style about them. It is all a bit flat and uninspired and the fit of most of the clothes looks like it is intended for someone who does not want to show off any part of their body at all, rather sack like. The staff were not particularly helpful and seemed to look down their noses at me. Which I thought was a bit cheeky considering they all looked like they were stuck in an eighties time warp with enormous Dallas hair and strange coloured eye shadow. If you are a mother of the bride or groom and are in your sixties then Rage may well be perfect for you, but I have another 35 years to wait before I am ready to visit rage again.

After some sophisticated sequins? Considering mother-of-the-bride outfits? Looking for a prom dress with a difference? In the market for a fancy handbag? Well, look no further. Rage Hyndland is an upmarket fashion shop in(unsurprisingly) Hyndland. It’s been there for more than 25 years — so it’s pretty much part of the landscape. Don’t get me wrong though, this shop may be well established, but that doesn’t mean it’s at all old-fashioned. The fashions at Rage are contemporary and stylish — meaning that they have something for everyone. The clothes at Rage are more dressy than casual — although you will find a few bits and pieces that aren’t sequinned or ruffly! The tailoring on their pieces is to die for — and you’re really paying for quality here. The layout of the shop is great — and the changing cubicles are a piece of art in themselves.(They have to be seen to be believed). Plus the staff are friendly and attentive, and will give you great advice. You can even set up a styling appointment with one of them. Definitely worth a trip if you’re after something special, or even if you just like staring longingly at pretty dresses.

Every day I pass this shop, with a sort of pop-eyed longing. Amongst the gaudy slightly mother of the bride esque stuff, there are some truely elegant and striking clothes on show. I must admit I’ve never actually entered this shop; whilst considering several times to ping the doorbell, I’ve been scared off by a very blowdryed, fierce looking lady inside, challenging me with a look to consider myself mature and wealthy enough to enter her establishment. Every time… I fail. One day when I do get enough cash to flash, though, I’ll be back… I will have those clothes!(But not the taffeta contributions.)
