Pollokshaws West Train Station

This is a cute little train station and it is going through a massive refurb/​restoration just now. When it is finished it will look lovely :) i only really pass through this station on the way home so cant say much about facilities in teh station

Since starting work in Pollokshaws, this place has been invaluable to me, because it’s a brisk ten minute walk to where I work, and the train from Central only takes about 10 minutes to get here. Ideal.
What’s not ideal is how completely and utterly scary it is at night. No one is around, its across the road from some of the dodgiest flats I have ever seen, and its dark. You have to go up stairs to get to the platforms so you’re pretty much hidden from public view apart from some trees and bushes behind you and the lone voice of the loudspeaker telling you you’re train is delayed, yet again. I have to be honest, I am terrified waiting here any time after 4pm in the winter, and I pray for my train to hurry up.
Get some adequate lighting and a guard on duty and everyone would feel safer!

This train station has certainly saved my bacon a few times. All of these occasions have been work related, hence it’s been appreciated that little bit extra.
The train station is really handy for Pollok Country Park, House and the Burrell Collection, which are all definitely worth a visit. Thus, this is — for many people anyway — the quickest and simplest way in which to travel to these tourist attractions.
Apart from the above attractions, the sights are somewhat limited. However, a trip to the 1901 bar and restaurant is easily within walking distance and will certainly improve any visit here.
Likewise, you can enjoy a short stroll along Pollokshaws Road into the heart of Shawlands with all it’s bustle and hustle.
So, all in all this is a useful train station, for certain purposes, that provides a relatively good service of four trains an hour into the City Centre at a reasonable price.

Pollokshaws West is a really handy train station for the south side with Langside on one exit and Pollokshaws on the either. The trains are really frequent but there isn’t much shelter on those cold nights.
Both staircases down to the station are pretty dark and deserted at night so I would urge caution.

This simple little train staton is the closest to Pollok Park and the Burrell Collection and the chances are, if you find yourself here, that’s where you’re going.
Situated in a fairly barren area, thankfully the station is well sign-​posted and instantly informs you of the direction you should head in to reach the nearby tourist attractions.
As well as the four hourly trains to Glasgow Central (three on a Sunday), the train is also served by services to Barrhead and East Kilbride line, and acts as an interchange station between the two.
