Tasty food but cheaply made and not cheap to buy ! A distinct lack of meat and substantial ingredients in the pasta sauces so basically pasta, bits of bacon & veggies, garlic and there you have it but at £9.50 or so for a plate it feels like one hell of a mark up !! There are better value Italian in town. Somehow they get good flavour though. The toilets are up stairs(lots of stairs actually) so that may be an issue for some

I’ve eaten in here quite a few times now and the food has always been excellent. The last time we went however the service was very slow and the food was not that hot. Usually it’s excellent and I’m hoping it was just a one off.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here at Paperino’s @ 78. We each had the 3-course«before theatre» special for 12 pounds plus drinks, which seemed very reasonable for the quality of the food. Unfortunately, I can’t remember the Italian names of all the dishes, but I had a nice insolata caprese salad, a delicious wide-noodle pappardelle pasta with cream sauce and grilled chicken, and a simply wicked mango cheesecake for dessert. It was all delicious, considering that this is a restaurant in a medium price range with no pretense. The staff was efficient, friendly, and nice. They even tolerated my needling them with questions about the ingredients of the cheesecake(sorry!) The décor is modern, abstract, and fun. This was such a nice change from pub food and pints of Guinness. Sometimes you just want to be waited on at your table and not fight a crowd of people. This would be a nice place to bring a date for a light meal or a drink.

Got a deal for a meal for two — booked a friday night 1st downfall lost our reservation however sorted with no hassle nice ambiance, Paid the £2 supplement each for seafood –worth every penny spagetti vongole and tagiatelle nero first class although the tagleatellie looked more like black spagettii Also took a desert again first rate-ONLY 1 complaint of the whole experience cost of wine — house red at £5.70 a glass a tad steep don’t you think!

So, Paperino’s in the city centre, eh? This was my first visit, having been to the one in the West end some years ago. First impressions? The place looks like a pizza express. I mean, UV reflective writing in the glass partitions, all wooden tables and booths. It’s trying way too hard. I was here on a Saturday night — you’d think it’d be packed, right? Half full at best. I should have known what to expect just from this. Our server showed us to our table, and gave us our menus, she did NOT come back to take our drinks order. When our server came back to take our food order, she seemed genuinely surprised that we had no drinks — whose job is it to take a drinks order if not the server?!? I had the garlic mushrooms and spicy sausage pizza, my lady had chicken strips and cajun chicken pizza. Both starters were definitely not made on site, just cooked on site. The pizzas? I’ve had better. I have had worse, so not a total disaster, but if you’re looking for a decent Glasgow city centre Italian, try Sarti’s. Everything about this place just screams AVERAGE. It’s so inoffensive, nothing stands out. The thing I’m angry about most? This place is so utterly, utterly banal, mediocre, average I suspect that if I don’t write a review I’m in danger of forgetting I’ve ever been there. By all means, take the kiddies-it’s that sort of place. I won’t be going back.

Good solid Italian food in a beautiful spot in the heart of downtown Glasgow. Not the cheapest prices and only a few beers on tap, but our food was delicious and it came in nice big portions. The place has a beautiful interior with a mezzanine level overlooking the floor below. I’d come back again.

Had a lovely meal here last night with my family. Delicious olives to nibble on and then some light and crispy zucchini tempura stuff, and a very tasty quatro stagioni pizza, washed down with a peroni. Or two. Got a bit grumpy because I asked for olives instead of anchovies and when it arrived it had anchovies on. The waitress realised as soon as she saw my crestfallen face but it meant everyone in my group had eaten by the time my corrected order arrived so it was all a bit disjointed. Having said that we all ate plenty and the bill was less than £80 for four of us.

I love Italians and this one is no exception! It’s in an amazingly handy location — perfect for popping in for lunch after a busy day shopping or a post-work meal when you’ve just been paid and can’t be bothered cooking. The food is good, if a bit run of the mill e.g. pizza, pasta, risottos and the like. The portions are decent, doggy bags are available, the prices reasonable and the wine is particularly yummy. The staff are pleasant, however, can as has previously been touched upon, not be the quickest. Still, sometimes a quiet, decent meal at a relaxed place is just what you need.

Paperino’s is a nice reliable restaurant. Housed in a lovely building at 78 St Vincent Street, this is always a bustling place for a meal. We got a seat on the mezzanine level(yesssss!) and so sat and looked at what the people below us were eating as we waited for our food. The pizzas looked good, and one particuler man savagely eating his pasta would have given it a thumbs up, I’m sure. I had minestrone soup for my starter, which was almost a meal in itself. By the time my main, a baby spinach salad had arrived, I was pretty much full. Thank god it was only a salad! Full of avocado and bacon, it was exceptionally fattening and tasty for a salad. Mmm! The staff were very nice, if, again, not the fastest. I would recommend it for its relaxed atmosphere and comfort food.

Recently opened, this Paperino’s restaurant is shiny new. Constantly busy, the place has a good atmosphere, however, if it’s a intimate dining experience you’re looking for, then maybe it’s not the best place to go(although, the comfy comfy wooden booths are awesome). The food itself is of the same standard as the other Paperino restaurants — pizzas, pastas, risottos, and your usual fumbly crumbly italian bits and bobs(mozarella sticks with tomato salsa… mmmm!). All the food is of a decent quality, however, this is only when you get it. Somehow the staff always seem to be stretched when it’s even slightly busy — if you’re in a far away corner you may be forgotten about, so always keep an eye out for a passing staff member if you’re feeling a little lonely. One thing they’ve definitely got down is the whole ‘we love kids’ thing — it’s quite a family orientated chain, and children are dealt with accordingly — they get colouring sets and everything! *Jeaaalous*.
