This place is rather awesome! This location is dangerously close to my work and makes a vast range of hot sandwiches(on lots of different bread types from a regular sandwich loaf to focaccia) that are all made to order. There are some awesome filling combinations, one of my personal favourites is the chicken twerker — which contains the giddy combination of peanut butter and avocado mmmmmmmmmmm! There’s the chance to add cheese or different sauces to your sandwich and the staff are always happy to switch out and ingredient for something else which is just lovely. Their doughnuts look amazing! I think I’ve only had one, so clearly need to go back and try more. I’ve also not yet tried their dogs, the sandwiches are too good! I see more visits are needed! They do a good range of soft drinks including fentimans to go with your food.

I was in town trying to find somewhere quick and easy to get something to eat before a certain movie about a war in the stars started. I’m not in this part of the city often so have to admit I was very pleased to see this place! I’ve eaten in all three now, and each have the same menu of deliciousness(they should call it that actually — BOWDOWNBEFORETHEMENUOFDELICIOUSNESS!) chock full of taste combos that make me salivate, all available on a variety of breads or whacked on a baked potato. And that’s before I get to the donuts(better than Krispy Kreme?). I had the Manwich — horrible name, great sandwich. A wonderfully meaty affair, but all of it tasted great, soft and moist turkey breast, nicely peppered pastrami and… some ham I think too? Chuck some BBQ sauce in there, throw it all on a ciabatta, toast it and deliver to my face hole, stat! Is what I didn’t say to the lady who served me, but it was something like that… And I’m salivating now thinking back to it. Sure it’s all a bit cheap and cheerful, but the staff are always friendly, and you can even mix up your own amazing concoction of deliciousness if you are feeling creative! It’s kinda hard to fault any of these establishments, so if I was being very picky I’d suggest that this one was a little cold inside so I ended up keeping my jacket on. No biggie though!

Fantastic place just round the corner from my work. Always go in every now and then for a donut or milkshake but decided to try a chicken bacon ciabatta today. Fantastic just found my new lunch haunt, friendly staff reasonably priced keep it up.

Let me set the scene for you… if you have visited their place on St Enoch Square it is very similar to this only larger and with tables. If you have never been in to Nics Deli(why not? what is wrong with you?) it is a cool, but incredibly busy little lunch spot with a wall of cool black and white pictures, a large service counter and a few painted wooden tables dotted around so you can choose to sit in. Okay! Okay! enough about the décor, lets talk about the food because this little slice of American heaven is a lunch time mecca for me — Hotdogs, Sandwiches, Wraps, Baked Potatoes, Salad Bowls and Taco Bowls crammed full of delicious and imaginative fillings… you can find their full menu here, I would tell you all my favourites but honestly I love them all. As well as a great choice of savoury options their sweet offerings are off the charts amazing — the donuts are INCREDIBLE, best donuts I have ever tasted, and again with amazing flavours and topping to choose from. Also on offer is a selection of light fluffy american pancakes and waffles with tons of lush flavours to choose from. Are you getting the impression that i love this place? Because I really really do. On this particular visit I ordered a foot long cheesy pig dog, which is a hotdog covered in bacon and melted cheese and was exactly as delicious as it sounds… although this is definitely something I need to eat with a fork and knife because it is so big and messy. For dessert I choose what can only be described as the king of all donuts — a cookies donut sandwich! I’ll give you a moment just to process the thought of a cookie donut sandwich… This is one of their regular freshly baked donuts slathered in fondant and sandwiched between two crunchy but chewy peanut butter cookies, then topped with honeycomb and more fondant — are you speechless? I certainly was when I saw it and I can’t even begin to tell you how epic it tasted, even if it did take me 3 sittings to finish it. Nics Deli is one of my favourite lunch time spots in G-Town, due to the calorie count I clock up on my visits I tend to keep it as a treat and maybe only visit once a month… but boy the calories are worth it.

I’d love to eat at Nic’s more often but for some reason I’m always passing it when I’ve already eaten. Even though I’d just devoured a burger, I knew that I’d regret not stopping in to grab a couple of donuts so in I ventured. This Nic’s is the bigger of the two(the original one being next to St Enoch) and has quite a bit of seating. I imagine it gets very busy at lunch time but later in the afternoon it was very quiet but there was still a good selection of donuts on display. The staff were able to tell me exactly what was in each donut(as I wanted one without cream) and I eventually opted for an apple caramel donut and a Terry’s chocolate orange one. At £1.49 each they are a pretty decent price for a sweet pick-me-up and they also offer a discount if you’re buying in multiples of 6. So how was the donut? Light, fluffy and sweet, just like a donut should be. I liked how there was dots of filling in it(even though it was ring donut) and overall it wasn’t sickly sweet like some donuts can be. But Nic’s doesn’t just do donuts — they also have a great menu for lunch including hot dogs, panini, baked potatoes, bagels, taco bowls and nachos.

I’ve been meaning to try Nic’s NYC for a while, and this branch in Hope Street is very handy on my way to work. Theres a huge amount to choose from on the menu — all pretty hearty stuff and the fresh counter with tattie scones, and lots of different fillings would make it hard to choose what you want on your sandwich/baguette/bagel or ciabatta. Other delicacies include gourmet hot dogs(although sadly no veggie option), wraps and taco bowls. However, despite these yummy options, on this occasion I was in for something sweet and although the waffles and pancakes sounded good, its hard to resist some donuts– especially when they have their own menu! It was my wee mums birthday so I opted to get a few to takeaway. Chocolate orange, salted caramel fondants with fun hungry hippos, oreo chocolate, m&ms, strawberry … the list goes on, and they also do a new surprise donut each week! I can’t resist salted caramel these days, and you can never go wrong with chocolate, so a salted caramel apple and chocolate fondant were swiftly purchased(£1.49 each). The staff were smiley and efficient which I suspect they need to be at peak lunch times. Saving the donuts all day was a tough shout but well worth the wait. Soft and fluffy, these were good donuts and surprisingly light to eat despite the luxurious toppings. Mmmm — yum! I noticed they also sell donuts in large boxes, customised to order and I’ll def keep it in mind the next time I want something different for a gift. I’m also looking forward to trying one of the savoury options, and hopefully will pay a visit during a lunch break soon!
