Having previously been a patient staying at Southern General Hospital, I wish there was an M&S onsite back then! This is a new addition to the hospital in the«death star» main part of the hospital. It’s actually quite a small M&S but they’ve managed to cram a lot of stuff in and cater for many people: — It’s mostly food but there is some stuff like tissues, hand sanitizer available near the checkouts — There’s a sandwich section if you’re a staff member/visitor looking for a quick bite — There’s also ready meals etc which I imagine would be really handy if you’re heading home from work/visiting and need to grab something quickly We just popped in for some bread and a little dessert treat for me. It was lunch time so it was super busy and as the shop is small, it can be hard to navigate. But people are just in and out again so it shouldn’t take too long. Overall, this is a nice wee M&S which I would definitely visit again.

This is a reasonably good sized simply food store. I like that there’s ample parking to the front of the store.

Patiently we did await the opening of this particular M&S store. With there not being much in the way of shops/choice within the grounds of the new South Glasgow University Hospital(or Queen Elizabeth University Hospital as it’s suddenly now been renamed!)staff here pretty much rely on places like this M&S store for a handy spot to pick up some lunch or snacks/drinks or even some shopping for the way home. It’s quite a petite M&S, situated to the left of the main hospital entrance, but it does pack quite a bit in such a small space. On offer you have a selection of M&S sandwiches, drinks, ready meals, fruit/veg, crisps/nuts, biscuits, snack bars, sweeties, milk(including soya) & juices, etc… with a heavy emphasise on ‘healthy’ stuff. I think that’s the NHS influence taking hold… I know the NHS have to be shown to be leading the way when it comes to healthy lunch/food/drink options for staff & visitors alike but I don’t really like being treated like a child and having what’s on my ‘menu’ dictated to by the powers that be… but that’s another matter completely. at least M&S still sell their wondefully wicked wee tubs of chocolate and other sugary delights in the form of mini chocolate rolls, chocolate cornflake bites & flapjacks(they’re a bit ‘healthy’ for me! Haha!) I thought with this M&S being on site of a(SUPER!) hospital it would maybe be a bit pricey but the wee tubs are still 2 for £4 which is normal I think. Not sure about the sandwiches or other items as I hardly even purchase M&S lunchables. They’re probably a wee bit dearer though… but i’m purely going on what other folk have told me. Nice to see some non-lunch based items on offer such as a small selection of meats, vegetables & ready meals/pizzas. This is very handy for those wishing to pick up something for their tea/dinner on the way home from work or visiting someone. They appear to have quite a good, varied selection too. I also spotted the infamous Percy Pigs and Colin the Caterpillar. I feel for Colin; he tends to always play second fiddle to Percy’s big feckin’ brass band even though Colin is just as tasty. They usually have Veggie options for these too. There are about 5 tills and opening hours are 7:30am — 9pm(I think) which is pretty good for all shift workers or late/early visitors. Staff are friendly too.
