I got married yesterday and these guys were so good in providing a great quality kilt for myself, best man, three ushers, dad, three uncles, nephew and brother in law. It was around £840 for the hire from Thursday to Monday which for such a good quality kilt I was really impressed. Usually the price is over £100 for a hire but you get every fifth hire free (5 hires costs 4, 10 costs 8 etc.) which was a better deal than any other place I visited.
The information supplied with the kilts made them really easy to put on, even for us bunch of sassenachs. Measuring instructions were clear too, and it was only me who had to get something changed, which was my kilt and waistcoat as I had lost weight for the wedding!
You’ve got all day Monday to return the hires too. I’d lost my sgian dubh from too much partying and they told me not to worry about it (I’m sure it helped all the hires were returned in one piece!).
I’d definitely recommend these guys to anyone looking for kilt hire. Also if you decide you want to actually buy a kilt, you get the money you paid in rental off the price of it! Top deal and top service.

0 STARS if it is possible. MacGregor & MacDuff ruined my trip to Scotland. I am American and no NOTHING about kilts and messaged them through their online support to purchase my own handmade kilt with my clan’s modern tartan.
My grandfather was Scottish and passed away two years ago. I made a promise to my grandmother that I would bring some of the ashes to Scotland to spread them. So my brother and I were coming to Scotland for the first time to spread his ashes and perform a ceremony, including a video to be sent back home to my grandmother.
I coordinated with their shop weeks ahead of time as we had planned a very tight travel schedule. I expressed I was 6’3″, 210 pounds, American & not knowledgeable about kilts & asked if there was somewhere I needed to go to be measured. The man helping me said that was not necessary as he just needed my WAIST SIZE. However, what he didn’t say is that waist size a completely different thing for kilts as you wrap them around your belly. So I gave him my 34″ waist size… which is what I wear for all my pants/​jeans. However, my belly size or wtv you would call it is obviously much larger so when I arrived in Scotland and showed up to the shop in person the kilt was far to small to be worn.
So for 2 years I planned this trip after my Grandfather passed away. I traveled all the way to Scotland from the USA only to find the kilt didn’t fit meaning that I had no clothes for the ceremony. The entire purpose of the trip was to make the video for my grandmother and get in touch with my Scottish heritage in return. Obviously the kilt was the most critical element of this plan and I was happy to spend $ 800+ for just the kilt. However, due to the miscommunication and, in my opinion, incompetence of the person I dealt with I was given a kilt that was laughably too small for a man of my size.

Edit– I was completely taken back when the owner of the shop contacted me personally after seeing this Unilocal review and wrote to me (not answering ANY of my Qs):

In addition to incompetence, the owner felt the need to insult my character simply for leaving an honest review of the terrible service I received. UNREAL.

MacGregor & MacDuff got me the kilt i needed for a last minute event in 2 days, if only i didn’t leave everything to the last minute my life would be easy.
Popped into the store, took my measurements, they called it through to the head office and i picked it up the next day, i had tried two other kilt shops and they both said no-​one does last minute hires.
Well, these guys do, and they do it well, the girls in the shop had some great banter, great customer service.
