I work near by lilys and enjoy going in on my lunch. The food is always fresh and the staff are friendly. Would definitely recommend it.

It might look a tad old fashioned but don’t let that put you off. This café mixes your local coffee shop and Chinese restaurant perfectly. The food is lovely & there’s a takeaway option too. They have a good array of cakes, soup sandwiches, baked potatoes and even burgers if you like that or why not go for the Chinese specials of the day. Main meals to takeaway range from £3.50 to £6. My only issue is that they close quite early(3pm ish)

Been here for lunch a few times and it gets better each time! First I had the BLT and it was made fresh, the bacon was great and the salad was really crisp! Other times I have had the soup and each flavour was really great. Today was the first time I had the Chinese option. She serves traditional food and also Chinese food and I would actually say the Chinese is better, as it’s obviously her heritage. I had chicken noodle soup and it was so amazing! There was nearly a full chicken breast in the soup and I got a proper large container of it too. It was really flavoursome. This is proper Chinese food like yo mamma used to make, not rubbish from a takeaway! Everything is freshly made, the portions are decent and it is moderately priced. There is even a free fortune cookie with the Chinese soup! Awesome!

The ever expanding culinary landscape that is the Glasgow City Centre sandwich scene has pleased me greatly of late. Great new places are popping up all over but I’ve had this feeling that something was missing. Namely a lunch place that’ll do me takeaway char sui buns and dim sum. I was getting so aggreived I’d begun fantasising about opening my own steamed bun cart selflessly trudging through the streets serving freshly prepared and cooked delicacies to like minded hard working gannets. Fortunately I don’t have to give up my cushy office job for a life of uncertainty and steam burns as Lily’s provides me with exaclty the buns I crave. And the buns are good. Fresh tasting and perfectly cooked(they should be you have to wait 20 minutes if you order them) and served up with a fresh side salad; exactly what I’ve been looking for. The rest of Lily’s menu is made up of traditional british café fare and other Asian treats. Not so much fusion cuisine as schizophrenic.

I love the delighfully random spin Lily’s has taken on coffee shoppery! Glasgow is over run with coffee shops from the very traditional Miss Cranston’s to the more retro Brew Haha right up to the modern café come bistro types such as Cranberry’s. I am a café slag who is loyal to no café in particular but instead enjoys variety and spreading it about a bit, ooo errr! As such I find the modernity of Lily’s a very welcome addition to Glasgow’s café culture. Lily’s is stylish and modern with lots of clean lines and bright open space. They serve tasty homemade soup, sandwiches and cakes but the real random selling point of Lily’s is the selection of yummy Chinese snacks! It sounds a bit wrong but trust me it is soooo right! You can expect to find prawn toast, spare ribs and spring rolls but I highly recommed the dim sum! Randomlicious!

Quite a wee place, I struggled a bit to park the buggy by the counter and didn’t see a high-chair(wasn’t offered one), and felt I was being watched by other(snooty) customers before sitting down. Good selection of lunch and snacks, soup and a sandwich was reasonably priced, tasty and filling and toddler happy with a baked potato and sitting on the soft, booth-style seats in a corner.
