I’ve been to Lamora a couple of times now as it’s not far from where I live so it’s handy when I can’t be bothered cooking and want to eat out. Last Saturday was one of these times so me and my pal headed over and managed to get a table even though we hadn’t booked. It was about 6pm when we arrived so it was early doors however there was only 1 other table in which was surprising for a Saturday. Because of the time we arrived we were given the pre-theatre menu but not the a la carte menu(which I thought was strange) but there was dishes on the pre-theatre that suited me so I didn’t bother asking for the main menu. I went for the calamari to start and chicken in a tomato sauce served with noodles. The calamari was lovely and crisp and had a nice, light batter. I would definitely have that again. The chicken in my main dish was lovely and tender and the sauce was nice, however did have a bit of an unusual aftertaste that I wasn’t expecting. The sauce wasn’t bad, just wasn’t great. But hey, it was 2 courses for £12 so really can’t complain too much! My pal had the rib-eye steak for his main and boy was I jealous! I don’t really buy into steaks on a pre-theatre menu just because I always have it in the back of my mind that it’s going to be a cheap piece of meat because of the price you are paying. That wasn’t the case this time. The steak was cooked perfectly, was tender and had a lovely chargrilled flavour. We have paid a lot more money for steaks that weren’t even half as good as this one! The staff were lovely and the place has a nice chilled out vibe to it. They also have a takeaway next door to the main restaurant so ideal if you want quality restaurant food but want to eat it in your comfies!

With so many places that do take outs near me I chose Lamora as I’ve not been here before, I chose a pizza to go, ham & pineapple @ £7.95 seems good value. While waiting for my order you could not help but notice how dirty the take out section was, that floor needed a good deck scrub looked as if it had not been done in ages. My order of pizza did not take long, it didn’t taste anything spectacular just processed ham & tinned pineapple but it still felt tasteless.

Lamora is one of the few Italian places in Glasgow that I would recommend for a good pizza. Located in the west-end part of Argyle street, Lamora is a no-fuss and friendly italian place, where you are sure to get a pizza which the appropriate(in my terms!) type of crust. That is: not too thin, not too big, and with a nice an crunchy crush. Although we had not made a reservation and it was 6 of us, we managed getting a table straight away(it was mid-week, admittedly) and the managers was very welcoming, chatting to me in Italian as if we were best buddies. I had mussels as a starter, which I must say were not amazing, but it was also out of season. The spicy sauce was really good though. There was also a really generous portion of what seemed to be home-made bread for the table. I then had a goat cheese pizza, which, as I said, had the perfect crush. The toppings altogether came to be a bit sweet, which is not much to my liking, but fine(my friend had pepperoni toppings and it was really nice and spicy). And I topped it all up with a gorgeous lemon and vanilla pannacotta, which I really recommend. My friend, who is a regular, recommended the tiramisù, but I had an eye on this pannacotta and I don’t regret it! I would also recommend topping the whole thing with a little vin’santo if you are into sweet wines :-)

This is my favourite Italian restaurant in Glasgow so far! They are consistent with their quality, so I went out of my way many times just to eat there. The décor is simple but warm and pleasant and the staff is really friendly, so the place always have this welcoming easy atmosphere that I love. It’s especially nice if you are served by the head waiter(the owner?), because he’s Italian and you can chat a bit if you like. As I already mentioned, their food is superb, I didn’t order a single thing that was not up to standard. Another bonus is that the food actually tastes Italian, so they may be actually using real Italian ingredients. And they definitely got the best tiramisu in Glasgow — it’s heavenly light and simply melts in the mouth. They also have some quality wines to choose from and are very knowledgeable about them. We never used the take-away service, but it’s prepared by the same chefs, so I imagine it’s as good as the food they serve in the restaurant. Also, their prices and their deals are amazing value for money and the portion sizes are reasonable. You won’t get too full after 1 course, but if you choose to have 2 or 3 courses, you will definitely satiate your hunger and feel pleasantly full. I would recommend booking in advance if you would like to make sure to get a table as the place gets really busy in the evenings. Definitely one of my favourite places to come back to.

It was pretty quiet on the Thursday night that I visited with friends, which meant that the atmosphere was a little flat. The staff were attentive, a little brusque though not unfriendly. Our food was served quickly and was perfectly nice, although I felt the price was quite high compared to other, similar restaurants.

My father and i always have large debates over where we are going to go for a quick dinner after a film. However we always compromise in attending our favourite little Italian wonder. Whether it be sitting in the restaurant or grabbing a take-away, the food is always delicious. Personally i prefer to sit inside because it allows me order their Affagato(Ice cream with strong coffee) which i simply cannot go without. We usually tend to do our version of a ‘Jimmy Style’ mean meaning that we both chose a pizza and pasta we like and order one of each and then share. This means we both get to try out the pizza and pasta! Food is always cooked nicely and the ingredients are fresh. The staff are lovely and the place is always kept busy, especially on a Friday night when you are lucky to get a table! Will continue to return here are much as possible c:

There are few things more annoying on a Friday evening that realising you have nothing at all to eat in the house. Which is why I found myself this evening making my way to Finniston to get some food. I had been meaning to try Lamora at 1170 Argyll Street for quite some time — well ever since I had read Tam Cowans review in the Daily Record(should be noted that the review was from March 2011) So this is where I popped into for a quick ‘1 courser’ The décor is pretty basic but pleasant — well worn wooden floors, plain with walls with some nice generic photographs displayed, wooden tables and chairs. It’s neither trendy nor dated just simple nice surroundings to enjoy an early evening meal. The staff here are quite lovely and friendly. I don’t really have much more to add than that, I’m not really sure what that means other than it’s a very pleasant restaurant. Once seated at our table we were present with the Pre-theatre menu which is available Sunday to Thursday 5:00pm — 7pm, and Friday & Saturday 5pm — 6:15pm and comes in at a very reasonable — Main Course for £7.95, 2 Courses for £11.95 and 3 Courses for £13.95. For the Quality of food it is extremely good value. My only small niggle here was I probably would of ordered from the a la carte menu, however I wasn’t given the menu and the waitress was gone before I realised so I just ordered from the Pre-theatre. As I said this was just a quick 1 courser so opted for a simple foccacia to start with — which was lovely and doughy. It wasn’t the best I’ve ever had but it was very tasty althought it was slightly burned in places but I didn’t mind that too much. For my main course I choose the Linguine Sea Bass & Tuna Puttanesca, which is a delicious crispy skinned fillet of Sea Bass on a bed of Linguine tossed in a tomato and oregano sauce with tuna flaked through it. The dish is supposed to come with artichokes but since all the sauces are made fresh to order I was able to get mine without. It was a very tasty dish, the pasta was perfectly al dente and the sauce was delicious. It wasn’t a massive portion but then it was only £7.95 so no complains there. My last little niggle was we did wait quite a long time for our main dish but that is somewhat understandable since it was made to order. All in all it’s a very decent restaurant and a very solid 3 star rating. I would say it’s not a wow, special occasion, must go back soon place but it was a perfect decent mid week can’t be bothered cooking restaurant.

I only ever used the Take-Away bit. You do not need to go into the restaurant but use the door on the right handside and you order straight away from the busy chefs!!! How cool is that? Feels like going to the Bike station and ordering straight from the mechanics! Anyway sweet prices, fast and clean service, and definitely the best tastiest pasta dishes in town! And copious… Can it get better?

Popped in here for lunch and yeah, I’d give it an A-OK. Not much I can write about it really, it neither overly impressed me nor did it disappoint. Nice atmosphere. Very pleasant staff, simple, affordable, typical Italian menu what more can I say? Would I go again? Yes, if I was in the area, but not somewhere I would go out my way for, simple as that. Not entirely surprised I’m first to review despite being there a while, it is kinda forgettable.

What a superb find this was, The food was prepared quickly but more importantly it was cooked freshly to order and was very good indeed. Although not much to look at from the outside the welcome and the food have made this a must for any lover of Italian food.

This Italian restaurant in the West End area of Glasgow is simply superb. The food is amazing and incredibly good value, and many of the staff are italian, meaning that you can have a good natter with them in their native tongue. Their sorbets and ice creams are out of this world and their chicken liver parfait is not to be missed! They have an extensive range of pizzas and pastas as well as steak and vegetarian dishes, and an excellent wine menu. They also have a seperate pizza takeaway service which is proving popular with local residents. It is accessible by bus and car, with street parking. Wheelchair users are welcomed. At the moment it is not that well known so get there quick before the sercret is let out!
