JAYZ Bar & Restaurant

Jayz is a bar a regularly visit, although I’ve only ate here a couple of times. It’s a great wee bar, the staff are very welcoming and they have a decent selection of drinks.
The bar hosts a range of live music nights, from acoustic showcase gigs for over 18’s and also a Sunday afternoon for under 18’s which encourages a great family vibe. Southside sessions run weekly open mic on a Sunday, there’s a traditional jam on a Tuesday night. And they even run a Motown night every could of Saturdays (I think)! So there’s always something on when you pop in.
The food I’ve tried is decent, they serve good sized portions, and their stack of nachos are a brilliant bar snack. My only issue with their menu is a pretty minimal selection for a veggies! They do good veggie fajitas though :)
The drinks aren’t the cheapest and it’s got a bit of a strange layout, the tables are a bit awkward to sit round if there’s more than four of you. But the booths are close together so you can sprawl over a couple. If you’re in Shawlands it’s definitely worth popping in for one or two :)
