Not really too much to say about this place as the boyfriend and I stopped in here for a quick drink on our way to dinner. I had never been in the place before, and the crowd is a bit on the older side. I did like how grand everything felt with the décor and the seating set up. Loads of table seating on the bottom floor and the same goes for the top floor. Since we were only in for one drink, we stood near the bar and that was plenty enough for us. The prices of the drinks are comparable to other places in the area. I wasn’t wanting too much to drink as a yummy Japanese dinner awaited, so I only ordered a half pint of Blue Moon and the boyfriend a pint of cider. All in all, I think it’s a nice place for a drink stop, the music was great and the staff, although a bit on the hipster side(as I sit here typing in my jumper that has roller skates on it), were plenty friendly for us. Three stars, a-ok!

I love Horton’s — the food I’ve had each time has been absolutely outstanding both in terms of taste and presentation. I’ve also had excellent service and great cocktails. In terms of a relaxed lunch during which you don’t want to be over pestered by staff Horton’s is brilliant and their cocktails are wonderful. I quite like the décor, and it was excellent value for money. I’ve never been in the evening so this is based on lunch times, but personally I definitely recommend this place 100%!

I ordered the Haggis, Neeps, and Tatties(mashed potatoes). The dish came with a creamy mustard sauce. It was interesting to try Haggis which were not fried. It was an exceptional dish and had nice presentation, but it was not absolutely outstanding. The bar itself had a nice atmosphere to start a night.

It’s a borderline three. I went here with a bunch of folks to check out there boutique beer selection(their words, not mine) and was met with a selection of pretty pricy beers that I can pretty much buy in any big Tesco… hmmm. Beer is a tough one in Glasgow these days. A couple of years ago finding an a bar with an extensive range of beer in Glasgow, beyond that of a place that stocks Carling AND Tennents, was a bit of a tough ask. Now though, kick ass beer bars are popping up everywhere and the choice in most new bars opening is fairly good as standard. This place may well have been killer a couple of years ago, but now just feels a bit pricy and a good year behind the curve. I’d have to come back another time to establish whether it’s a solid 3 or just scraped it… i’m inclined not to if i’m being honest.

Well sadly I think my friend and I found Horton’s on a bad night. My good girly pal had been raving about a cocktail she’d had and after treating ourselves to a meal at West Brewery(I suppose a review of that should folllow!) we decided to take a slight detour on the way back to the station and try this amazing cocktail. Apparently they close at 11pm on Tuesdays which we hadn’t noticed, but instead of politely informing us, they rolled their eyes when we ordered, allowed us to purchase two cocktails then cleaned up around us and turned off the music as we drank, making us feel very rushed, throwing the very strong cocktail down our throats and leaving rather disgruntled. A wee email to the manager later as constructive feeback was met with — well the times are on the door… Hmmmm. The cocktail for it’s merits was good… if I could just remember it’s name! I may well try here again another time, but my disappointment is too raw for it to be anytime soon.

Choose a table, sit and read the menu; go to one of the bars and order your food and drinks, telling them your table number; then sit back, relax and enjoy good food in pleasant surroundings. Worth a return visit.
