Home Bargains is shop that does exactly what it says on the tin, offers an(often weird and wonderful) variety of bargains on almost anything you might need in the home. This runs from toiletries to home wares to food and drink. I can never seem to go in without picking up a basketful of random goodies, and no matter how much you buy it seems to be almost impossible to spend over £10. On this trip I was accompanying my Mum(it’s totally her favourite shop, I once set myself the challenge of buying all her Christmas stocking gifts there…) and I wasn’t looking for anything in particular. In the end I managed to emerge with anti-histamines(14 for 79p!), washing-up liquid, pot scourers, a plastic tub for organising, a couple of different types of sweets and a multi-pack of crisps. It’s not a shop where you could ever do your weekly shop but always worth a trip to pick up a few odds and ends. It’s particularly good for simple medicines like painkillers and cold remedies, as well things like toothpaste and shower gel. There’s lots of great storage items as well as plenty of cleaning supplies. It’s also particularly good for snacks, I’d definitely recommend the packets of microwave popcorn. Tastier and more plentiful than brands like Butterkist for about half the price. So if you’re in the area I’d definitely recommend popping in for a browse, you’ll never know what bargains you’ll pick up!

So the other week was my first exploration into Home Bargains, no idea why I hadn’t tried this before. I was on the look out for some glass jars, cute Christmas ribbon and some tags. Paid about 60p for 3 realms of ribbons, and a quid for a lot of tags! Quite literally a bargain.

I have been negelecting Home Bargains a bit lately as my Daughter has been doing the shopping, I realised though that she does not think about the cleaning and laundry she thinks it is all done by the Pixies. Or who keeps the cupboard stocked with the Koka Noodles that she likes to snack on. As the name implies there are bargains to be had. Lately they have been expanding their stock they now have an area that sells Wine Beer & Cider, and fresh vegetables. I spent £18.00 the other day and came out with two bags of goodies you always find more that you went in for and then wonder how you managed without it.

This is another great shop, one of my favs. Definitely a shop I spend way too much money in, but justify every purchase. Obviously! Its a great store for stocking up on toilet roll and paper goods. You really can’t beat the price and for the amount you get here, you’d get a fraction at your local supermarket. I also get kitchen and laundry stuff here most of the time. This shop is great for the odd treat as well. Not only do they now have an American sweets section, but as Sophie K and I noticed, they also have German goodies as well! I’ve never left this shop empty handed, especially since they have a great selection of the ciders that I enjoy for less than I would pay elsewhere. There is the odd crazy walking about and a screaming child here and there, but that never stops me from getting in and getting the things that I need!

Dog food here is at least £2 less than in any other store. It is a ‘bargain store’ so there is an interesting array of random stuff in here, some better than the other. That is really all I have to say about this place.

I love you, Home Bargains! Is there anything you can’t get in here? I go in for one or two things and come out with bags full of random stuff. I mainly go here for the 25p Koka noodles(I’m addicted) and the amazing salted tortilla chips they sell. Their home cleaning section is amazing and so much cheaper than normal supermarkets. I bought some toys here for some of my friend’s kids too, they always have excellent offers on branded toys. Lots of cheap and weird booze to be found also, always a good stop if you’re having folk over or having a party. DVDs, plants, clothes, books, cycling gear… It really is a wee Aladdin’s cave. Plus, their card machine is super fast, and you never wait long in a queue, no matter how busy it is. Winner!
