Greggs at Govan Cross was crowned«the Greggs of Greggs’ in 2006( ) and I can see why. super friendly staff, busy shop and the usual Greggs delights to brighten up your day. Personally, I am a bit of a sucker for their seasonal things like Halloween spooky cakes, which are basically fairycakes with coloured icing, but taste yummy and are decorated with jewellry– I collected a plastic bat ring and a plastic cat one year). The cheese and onion pasties are so good, and the coffee is excellent. I am now waiting in anticipation to try the Greggsnut which is in my fridge. yes, it is a thing, and my how bad(in a good way) it looks :)

I know, I know! I may complain that’s there’s not a great variety of take aways in Govan but when you need a quick lunch this is the place to go. This branch, like most, is always heaving. I will wait in that queue no matter what because the smell sucks you in. My personal favourite delight about the branch is Janice. You can always hear her before you see her. She always singing and chatting away to the customers. Janice really livens up Greggs and she’s no a bad wee singer either. I’ve said to her«you no been up at the Brechins for karaōke Tuesdays yet?» She said her husband won’t let her. Bless! The staff are always really nice and you can get some good banter with them especially when Janice joins in. Admittedly at the moment I am enjoying the Christmas specials. I am very partial to the Brie and Cranberry bakes. Yum! Janice said they are popular and should keep them. I wholeheartedly agree! Greggs is Greggs with it’s usual range of bakes and it’s famous sausage rolls. It’s cheap, it’s cheerful but the specials are always worth going in for.
