This synagogue is the nicest one I have seen! Based just outwith the city centre, it is for Orthodox Jews only. The synagogue was opened in 1879 and is full of beautiful and ornate features. They welcome tourists and visitors, but it is worth telephoning beforehand as they have regular services. The synagogue was open as part of the 2006 Doors Open day and hopefully it will be re-introduced back into the programme. The synagogue has 2 levels in the main worship room — the ground floor was for the men and the first floor for women. They have many religous artefacts and beautiful cornice work. The easiest way to get to the synagogue is by car or to get off at the Cowcaddens tube station and walk.
