Escape Glasgow

Booked this as a surprise for David’s birthday. And it was totally worth it!
We had seen something similar on the Big Bang Theory and thought it would be fun.
They put you into a room with a few basic instructions (i.e. no clues in the plug points, no need to undo the picture frames or try to remove the mirror, etc.) and then you’re on your own with just your wits and a TV where they will give you clues if they sense you’re stuck. It didn’t take us long to figure out where the key to the exit door was but it was sealed with a combination lock, and without the combination there was no way we would get it without going through all the clues and puzzles. and so commenced the next 60 minuets of fun.
There was no theme or plot to the game we did unlike some other places and as such the room was quite plain but there do have other options available.
When it was booked, we thought it would be more fun if we were a larger group as you can play with up to 6 people but we ended up quite happy being just the two of us. We made it out in the allotted time and they said only 40% of groups makes it but after going through their Facebook page, it looks like that number is higher, not that it matters but its possibly biased towards people who did make it.
We did find that some clues where given to us too early and wished we didn’t look at the TV to see them as we would’ve figured it out on our own, on the flip side, there was at least one puzzle we’re not sure we would’ve been able to figure out without their clue.
All in all, lots of fun, we recommend!

Looking for something different to do, try Escape Glasgow. OK, so it’s being locked in a room but with friends this is fun. Search for the clues, figure out the codes and soon you will find the key to freedom.
If you haven’t tried I recommend you try and if you want more of a challenge try the contagion room. Guaranteed fun!
I hope they develop more seasonal or special limited feature rooms. As once you’ve done the classic and contagion you know how to solve the clues or you can join another group of friends and look like a genius. «Been here before you say? Never, I’m just that smart.» Hehe!

I got this as a gift for my boyfriend and I, they offer a deal for couples for 48 pounds rather than 66, and we had a blast!
It’s not as intense as I had envisioned, I think I imagined there would be creepy music playing and that the room would look like a derelict bedroom with lots of cobwebs or something, but instead it was just a normal looking living room with some well placed clues.
Despite the fact that there wasn’t a tonnnnn of atmosphere, we still had a great time figuring out the puzzles (which were pretty tough! We had to ask for clues a couple times) and it would be great to come back and do it again with a big group or even after a drink in town!
I’ll definitely be back at some point as this makes a great, out of the ordinary gift!

I’d never seen the Crystal Maze TV show so when I heard about Escape Glasgow I really didn’t know what to expect. I’m also fiercely competitive and was a little bit worried about Briony-​Hulk paying Unilocalers a visit when we did this a few months back — thankfully, I managed to keep my Hulk under control and work as a team member well enough to get a 33 minute escape time from one of the classic rooms. YAH.
Last night we headed back for a UYE organised by the awesome Harry L to do Contagion. This is more of a themed room where you have to find the cure to the plague (or something) within 60 minutes of getting into the room, or you’ll catch the plague and die. It’s £66 and you can have up to 6 people.
Liam talked us through how it all works even though there was just the one newbie, the briefing is fun and informative so you don’t need to worry about getting bored. If you need to go to the loo you’ll need to head up to the first floor of Baltic Chambers which is one of my few criticisms of this place, it’d be nice if they were closer by!
You then get locked in the room (although if you really do freak out about being locked in, they can let you out). The guys from Escape Glasgow are watching you on CCTV so that if you get stuck on a puzzle, they’ll put a hint on the TV in the room. This proves to be SUPER helpful as sometimes you will just get stuck and have no idea what to do.
I won’t give the puzzles away for the room as that would spoil the fun, but it is SUCH a laugh and so much fun. I love that when you’re there with 5 other people, each person brings something useful to the team and you will all end up solving puzzles. I think it would be near impossible to do alone. Contagion is a really fun room and I think I preferred the puzzles in this room to the classic. You don’t need to have any special knowledge to do them, you just need to be observant and think imaginatively.
I love that when you escape the room, the guys seem properly chuffed for you and they’ll talk to you about the bits you got stuck on. They are looking at re-​doing one of the classic rooms so hopefully we’ll head back when that gets changed!

What a great idea this place is, the first of its kind in Glasgow we went here for an event a while back and it was so good we decided to do their newest room which is called contagion.
The premise is we are a team of scientists trying to find out how to cure this life threatening virus and you have to do it in an hour before you are unfortunately killed like the previous team before you. So you have to use your brainpower to solve the clues hidden in the room and from the previous team who have unfortunately expired!
Built for teams ideally of 6 they can be done with as little as 2 and the cost is pretty good at £66 if split between you all. Although this might sound alot its pretty decent for an hours entertainment and some mental exercise in a very unique experience. Cant wait for their next room!!!

Such good fun that brings out my highly competitive nature. Organised as a work event, amongst the whole office. With teams competing at lunch and straight from work.
Upon arrival you get a really short introduction and basic explanation of what’s going to happen. So often your bored with health and safety and rules but not this. The rule is literally to escape.
You can get given clues. And annoyingly we got given a clue approximately the same point j worked out the code!
This is a great hour activity. Perfect for a start to a hen-​do or a team building activity or a laugh with your mates or relatives.

That’ll be an easy 5 star review from me then.
Something different, this is an absolute winner from me. And, so much more difficult than expected! Choose your cronies wisely.
Me and my wife had a blast, with my parents, and will proudly ignore the extra 4 minutes we received to solve the room given the pen and wipeboard did not work (note-​taking is essential).
Some tips: Sundays seem to be relatively chilled out, but there’s no doorman so you need to basically hang around till someone else enters the building, and even then, they will probably say something like ‘call them’ and insist you don’t enter the building without permission, not acknowledging the fact you already called them three times.
Just saying.
If you get in, you will enjoy it.

This was a fantastic evening out. I had no idea what to expect from this but it was an hour (well, 51 minutes for us!) of great, challenging fun.
You’re locked in a room for up to an hour and it’s up to you to escape… Some clues are obvious and some clues aren’t so you’ll be left wondering if you’re looking at something worthwhile or if you’re just wasting your precious time. Imagine playing a mental challenge on the Crystal Maze or a puzzle from Professor Layton and this is the kind of thing that you can expect.
If you fancy something a little different where you can test yourself then this is ideal. It’s a fixed price so if you have a larger group then it’s cheaper for everyone!

I’ll admit I was a bit dubious when I heard about Escape. The description brought back awkward repressed memories of past team building workshops and work outings. However it was much more fun than I had thought.
In a group of up to 6 people you are locked in a room and have to get out by solving a series of clues and puzzles. Once you get in the right mind set and work together, it becomes great fun. Sadly you are so proud of yourself and your team once you solve a puzzle. However, by doing so you you will find yourself puzzling over a new clue.
I definitely want to try this again with a group of friends with different puzzles and definitely wouldn’t moan about a work team building exercise like this.

It’s always great to find something different to do in Glasgow and Escape is definitely something I’ll be recommending to friends, family and work colleagues after a fun night last night!
The premise is simple enough, you are locked in a ‘living room’ and need to solve a set of puzzles to get out. The puzzles are a mix of type and well thought through, so it’s great for a mixed group; if it was just me in the room I’d probably still be in there!
The staff were all very friendly and helpful, the puzzles were challenging, and the entire setup is very well organised.
Most importantly, we escaped!
Can’t recommend this highly enough for something a bit different. All in I think you’d be there for around 90 mins so it’s easily manageable as part of a team building event, or just as something different to do with some friends.
Well worth a look!

I had booked Escape as a Christmas present for my friends and I. We went along on Sunday afternoon and had a ball.
The staff were great and very friendly — they gave us a quick briefing about what to expect and then we were locked in a room for 1 hour with some clues to help us reach the key to escape!
The puzzles were tricky and tested us all in different ways but great fun. The only downside was that we spent about 15 minutes trying to get a particular combination lock undone which held us up and caused a bit of frustration as we knew we had the answer but just couldn’t work the lock.
I would thoroughly recommend this as a fun way to spend time with friends or family or it would work really well as a team building exercise for workplaces.
