Elmbank Express Cafe

I was not in great shape when I arrived at Elmbank Express, with the lingering effects of the previous night’s excesses still hampering my wellbeing. After a hearty breakfast for under a fiver I wouldn’t say I exactly felt as right as rain, but I was definitely on the road to recovery. Friendly and inexpensive, I thought it rather a nice place.
Overall, we said: «I enjoyed my visit to the Elmbank Express. Clearly a popular place, they did a good job of tending to my hungover needs. I’d be happy to visit again, hopefully when feeling on slightly better form.»

Nice enough wee takeaway place and you can sit in too. It’s nothing special but the staff are friendly and it’s usually mobbed at lunchtime so that’s an indication of popularity amongst local office workers!
The soup is worth a special mention — the lentil is lovely, nice and thick, and the chicken and rice is perfect if you have a hangover as it’s quite gentle on the tummy.

Still call this place Brogan’s, think I always will know it by that name. Your typical foody, sandwich lunchy type place. Hot and cold foods. Caters for most of the things you would want at lunch time.
They do morning rolls too, which is mostly what I go in for. Especially on a Friday as it is on my route to work. Being handy is probably the biggest reason for me going. Saves times.
Your pocket wont take too much of a hammering either and they sometimes have deals on. If you fancy sitting in they have a couple of tables.
Every time I have been in and needed something changed or removed from and order they are happy to help. Even when making up a meal (being creative) they have obliged.

I wouldn’t say that l was a regular here, but if l was passing and looking for something cheap this was the place to go.
The food is nothing special just your bog standard bought in items from the local C&C. I would doubt if anything was ever home made here with the exception of the soup.
What has put me off coming back is seeing staff members sitting on food prep areas and for me that is a big no no.
There is no standard in uniforms here unless you include dirty trackie bottoms.

New rating is for 2 stars and that’s because of the cheap food, I would not like to come back due to the sitting on food counters issue, if you need a break then you sit on a chair.
Uniforms is a must if you want to give a professional image.
