Elements sells a whole variety of different things, from household decorations and sparkly lights to cards, gifts and jewellery, including jewellry which is specifically designed to post, which comes with a special message card and seal. This is another De Courcy’s «I could buy the whole shop» shops. super friendly staff, unique gifts and things you simply won’t find anywhere else. The cards are an amusing Scottish selection with daft phrases and would be great for sending to spread the Glasgow banter ;)

I’m not sure I’d ever been in here even though it’s one of the shops that’s been in De Courcey’s for ages. It’s quite a large shop which is literally brimming with amazing gifts, treats and lovely stuff. Sometimes shops like this can be a little hit or miss but there was lots of stuff that I’d describe as pretty«trendy» right now — bronze/brass candle jars and vases, pineapple stuff as well as some amazing chunky necklaces. They also had a jewellery range of porcelain animals which I’m still not sure whether they’re amazing or terrifying. With some homewars, kids stuff and accessories like bags, if you were looking for a gift you’d probably be able to find something ideal in here. I ended up getting a wee black trinket tray with a brass pineapple in the middle for £7.50. The girl working was friendly and chatty, and I was able to pay of card. This is a great wee shop and worth that little detour off Byres Road.

I LOVE browsing in here. Everything is a sensual delight – smelling, feeling, and/or looking fantastic. If there is a female in your life for whom you need to buy a gift, just wander in here, pick up an item at random, buy it, wrap it, and give it to her. She’ll love it. This shop is full of things that are eminently functional while still managing to bring the whimsy and the pretty. Utterly delightful.

Elements is a lovely, whimsical wee shop full of delicate ornaments and chintzy wee treasures. It may be small in size, but this cute gift store has all sorts of unusual gifts dotted around its shelves. The majority of their photo albums and jewellery boxes take on a retro theme, although I hate to employ that word since it’s a bit overused! In this case it’s fitting though, and most gifts are inspired by lost era’s, hazy summer afternoons and simpler times. Expect to see Victorian inspired, ornate candle holders, jewellery holders in the style of old perfume bottles, scrapbooks and necklaces with swallows on them. Vintage is all the rage at the moment, and although this shop is a bit more mainstream than independent design shop Made in the Shade, there seems to be a running theme borrowed from quaint, bygone days. They bring everything up to speed, however, and the stock they choose is tasteful and pretty, as well as being useful in part — they have some cute baby clothing for tiny tots! I am always successful getting a present from Elements, and would be at a loss without it! I don’t think I’ve ever left the store empty handed.

From the people who brought us Pink Poodle, here’s a little gift shop which might be overlooked under the shadow of Papyrus. Little gifts and trinkets, all with an air of ‘cheeky’ about them. I love shopping in here. And the bags! I love the bags. A little corner is stashed aside for baby things and whatnot, but I like picking through the display table up front. Especially the one with the discount cards in it. I got a really cool ‘moving’ card for £1. Nice. If you like Papyrus, but think it might be a bit too mainstream, then give Elements a try.

This really is a lovely little shop in De Courcy’s arcade. It is kind of like Papyrus but nicer. There were so many things I wanted the last time I browsed but the two winners were a 1940s style photo frame and a baby gift set which was reduced from £35 to £15. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Shopping in Elements makes me very satisfied I am supporting a small local business.

With a wide range of pretty household gifts and sugary sweet baby accessories, there are no prizes for guessing the clientele aimed at by Elements in Cresswell Lane. In many ways, the beautifully-presented shop is a microcosm of the lane in its current incarnation as a whole; quirky and alternative, chic and pricey. Given the amount of similar businesses in the city(Felix and Oscar, Papyrus etc…), a shop like this has to be good if it’s going to survive, and thankfully this one is. Devoid of the David Brent-esque silliness prevalent in many of its competitors, Elements exudes a little more class and concentrates solely on stocking pretty items which actually have some sort of use as well. Again, like most of its Cresswell Lane buddies, it’s not a shop for me, but nor is it trying to be.

I really enjoy browsing this teeny tiny little gift shop which is literally crammed with gifts with all their products being displayed on items which are also for sale — all very homely yet so trendy. The last time I was in I spotted a beautiful scarf and hat set, flower fairy lights, a cute photo album and wee notelets that I wanted for myself. Sadly I was looking for a fling-in for a present and not myself and most of the things I liked were outwith my budget this time. If I was looking for a baby present this is where I’d head to — they have a whole section dedicated to baby gifts which are just adorable. Sweeter than many of the trendy, quirky gift shops nearby.

Elements kinda sums up Creswell Lane shopping in DeCourcy’s arcade — it’s yummy mummy central, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, however, it might be bad if you’re on a budget. This shop has everything! I love just looking round it and in all the ‘nooks and crannies’ — absolutely everything you see is for sale! It’s soooo cute! And it sells those really nice scented candles — you know, the Lily-Frame candles… they’re amazing! It has loads of gift ideas, and homewares, from baby clothes to aprons, cake platters to diamantee picture frames and all the rest. It’s all quirky, cute and retro. I can easily kill time in there… it’s tiny and adorable. I might do a Verrucca Salt and just say: I want everything in it, and I want it now!
