Drumchapel Hospital

I only recently found out Drumchapel Hospital is in option if you desperately need to see a GP out of hours but you don’t have a knife sticking out of your chest or one finger hanging off (If you have either of these things and happen to be reading this page, what you need is A&E.
It’s not the most modern hospital in the world but the service was efficient and friendly on the one occasion I visited.
To book an appointment at Drumchapel Hospital, you have to phone NHS 24 first.

Drumchapel Hospital is where you head when you need to see a doctor immediately and your local GP has already finished their 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays, stint (I know I sound bitter but GPs really do work at the most inconvenient times. Considering the money they are paid, I don’t think it is unreasonable for them to work one late weeknight or Saturday morning).
I had to pay a visit to Drumchapel Hospital last Boxing Day when I was suffering from a throat infection. I saw the doctor immediately and he was very kind and friendly. I left clutching a prescription for antibiotics.
The hospital itself looks pretty scabby but I guess décor is the last thing you notice when you are in pain.
