As with most co-op stores l find that their selection is poor and the shelves are not well stocked. Some of the cordial juices are 3 x the price than Morrison’s stores. This store in particular is tight and the shelves are too close, makes it impossible for two trolleys to pass. I would be struggling to rate this shop any more than three stares due to the poor selection available and cost of shopping there.

Yes, this is a bit of a strange one. It’s trying to be a supermarket. But it knows that this is an impossible venture. For the space it has, it actually does pretty well in providing a limited supply of product. Some fresh, some not, some meant to be fresh. Be warned, it gives the impression that you can in fact procure all the ingredients you need to make a basic meal. Say, a chicken pasta bake or a casserole. Something like that. Though, when you’re just one or two vital ingredients away from your main goal — you’ll find yourself scuppered. There’s no way of telling this earlier or learning from experience as the stock is constantly changing. Furthermore, it’s stock is also rather random e.g. it will stock organic coffee beans, soya milk and goats cheese but won’t have any onions. However, it is required considering the other local amenities. Though don’t be surprised if you have to sacrifice a vital ingredient in your cooking.

Co-op across the road form the Victoria Infirmary. Well placed next to the mainn road. This shop has got to be one of the worst designed shops in history. The lanes are so small moving around inside them with your basket is almost impossible. They seem to sell very overpriced pointless stuff at well inflated prices. Any decent prices are on things you dont actually need. Fruit and veg is expensive and so are basics. The system to queue in the shop is terrible. Everyone goes down one of the shopping lanes getting in each others way. The staff are generally slow, but pleasant. They o ly have one staff member behind the counter at peak times. I wouldnt like to be disabled in this shop. On the up side, there is a cash machine outside that does not charge for use and it got long opening hours.

I can only echo the sentiments of the previous reviewer: this Co-op is cramped and has a limited stock. On a street dominated by newsagents and take aways, it might simply be that it doesn’t have to work too hard. When I used to work in this area, I would off stop off at the Co-op on the way home to stock up on vegetables. I guess that it is best for essentials, and nothing more.

Straddling the fence between convenience store and small supermarket, this co-op branch is most notable for being unbelievably cramped, and for never seeming to have what you were after. You’d think a chain such as this would have salad dressing other than the 1970s cruise ship style Thousand Island dressing on sale here, but sadly not. Their selection of anything in fact, is usually pretty lacking. but as the only such place in the immediate area, it’s still fairly invaluable.
