Decent coffee chain, this branch is on a busy street which makes the queueing a little long on occasion Always friendly team not always tables available or clean when you do get one

Café Nero’s just ok on my book. I don’t drink coffee so it’s raised d’être is somewhat lost on me. That said, I like the mango and passion fruit ice blend. This particular outlet is neatly located next to central station.

Caffe Nero is my first stop when I get into the city centre of Glasgow every single Monday. My insurance is with Aviva and one of there perks, is free coffee every Monday. It makes the day start nicely! Warning though — the queue can be a little confusing, pre-caffeine. If its a warm day the queue is outside the door, otherwise it sort of snakes into the building! The staff are bright and cheery, dealing well with the morning rush and they seem to remember the regulars orders, which is great for a chain store. Nero uses 2 espresso shots as standard for a medium/regular cup.

I’m not entirely sure I’ve ever been to Caffe Nero before — with these chain coffee places it’s kind of hard to tell the difference between them other than the colour of the logo. I was heading here for a meeting and actually had it confused with Costa so thankfully I’d been told it was near Pivo Pivo(now Kitty’s) as who knows where I’d have ended up. This shop offers what you’ve expect — hot drinks, pastries, cold drinks(juices, soft drinks) and some lunch options. I grabbed an apple juice and a packaged almond biscotti which came to a couple of pounds. The two staff members on duty seemed to be having an argument/heated discussion while I was there which was a bit awkward. There’s plenty of seating, as well as a downstairs area(which I didn’t venture to). The place was pretty clean while I was there and there was someone sweeping the floors. All up I was here for 45 minutes or so and I can’t complain about it. That being said, I really can’t think of a reason I’d return here — the lure of free wifi and powerpoints isn’t enough for me and I like somewhere with a bit of atmosphere and character if I’m working away from home.

Very nice café. This Nero is quite big, and it seems that it is always possible to get a seat. The cleanliness of this place is very good — no old coffee cups standing around in here! I tried their Amaretto Christmas latte, and it certainly beats any of Starbuck’s Christmas coffees!

Popped in for a coffee whilst I did a little work and met my girlfriend. I like the setting, and even though it’s hidden away behind Central Station on the corner, it’s a nice layout and roomier than you think. The coffee is good here, the staff are friendly and there is a reasonable range of foodstuffs on offer. And… that’s all there is to say really. It’s a dependable coffee shop that I’ve used in the past and I’ll use again. At the back it’s quiet enough to work, or if you score a comfy seat in the window you can just sit and watch the world whizz by.

Café Nero on Hope Street is a good wee stop off point for your morning coffee. The staff are always on the ball and polite considering the sheer volume of customers they get piling out of Central Station. It also has a relaxing, laid back atmosphere if you ever want to pop in with your laptop and get some work done at lunch time. Three stars might be a bit harsh, it’s really just the prices, although they’re not much better at Costa’s or Starbucks either. The sandwiches, panninis, rolls etc. are overpriced and not particularly special in comparison to some of the options you get at the various delis around the city centre. Still it’s a coffee shop, that’s what matters, and they do it well! Is this review conflicted?

A more relaxed and spacious café than other Nero’s. Has a small downstairs eating area. Usual Nero’s food and beverage choices. Staff were welcoming and competent and attentive even though café was busy. Free wi-fi.
