I was at Silverburn grabbing a bubble tea from Tempo’s pop-up van, when I got lured in by an Auntie Anne’s staff member giving me a membership card and telling me about free pretzels. When you get their app, you get a certain amount of reward points and with that, you can get a pretzel. I love pretzels! Downloading the app and signing up was a bit of a faff but I got my free, plain salted pretzel in the end. I’ll be honest. Auntie Anne’s has never appealed to me in the past — as I said, I love pretzels but there’s something about this place that just didn’t entice me to go over to their staff. I think their branding looks a little cheap. Anyway, I got my pretzel and it was ok — definitely not the best pretzel I’ve had, and for a plain, salted pretzel it tasted pretty sweet so I’m not sure if it has some sugar glaze on it. It also had a tonne of butter on it which I wasn’t all that excited for. For a free pretzel it was fine but I can’t say they won me over to ever going back to buy one. Sorry Auntie Anne, if you speciality is pretzels I want them to be the best damn pretzel I’ve ever had.

Yes! Finally an Auntie Annes in Glasgow! I don’t understand why the American pretzel craze has never really taken off in the UK. the soft pretzels are delicious. They are different from your traditional german pretzels which are more crispy and hard texture. These pretzels are doughy and buttery. great comfort food. I like the rock salted one(classic). The mixture of butter salt and dough is my favourite taste possibly ever. I have tried the cinnamon pretzel bites but these had too much sugar on them. You can also get some other sweet ones such as vanilla sugar, and more savoury(jalapeño, cheese, etc) There are a number of dips you can buy to but I haven’t ventured out to try these yet. I prefer plain and salty!
