I’ve eaten here a few times and it is always a delicious meal. Full disclosure: I lovelovelove Turkish food anyway so this place is onto a winner before they start. I love picky, picnicy, dippy food that you can share and which doesn’t leave the vegetarians in your group with very limited choices. This last time that I went, we were ravenous and ordered a huge spread of mixed mezze starters so I think I tried almost every starter on the menu! The usual baba ganoush, hummus, cous cous, cacik and taramasalatas on the cold mezze plate are all home made-looking and tasty, and they come with a big bread(not pitta, more like a slightly crispier, lighter, naan type bread). The hot mezze included a lovely spicy paprika sausage, halloumi and some Filo/feta pastries. I wasn’t so keen on the whole whitebaits but that’s more a personal taste thing. You can see into the kitchen and the big charcoal grill at the back. My lamb shish, fresh from the grill was gorgeous, barbecuey on the outside and juicy within. It was accompanied by rice with chickpeas, more bread. and salad. Very tasty indeed. A wee Turkish coffee to finish rounded off a faultless meal. It was extremely good value, working out at 30 quid a head for all that food plus 2 bottles of prosecco between 4 of us, plus coffees etc. As it was Saturday night, there was a belly dancer going round which I found a bit off putting as it felt ignorant to carry on eating and chatting, and just ignore her when she was at our table, but I just wanted to talk to my friends and eat my food. Stop interrupting my dinner, you beautiful belly dancing lady, you. That’s a minor niggle. As it was my friend’s birthday, the manager brought us complimentary cocktails after we’d paid up and that was a nice touch. I don’t know how they are still there and making any money — it’s super cheap, it’s never particularly busy(and it’s massive inside so it would be hard to EVER fill it) and they give away free stuff! You should definitely go!

The food here is great and the prices are so reasonable you kind of feel like you’re getting away with robbery! With 2 courses for a fiver it’s definitely hard to beat. The flavours are great and although I’ve never been to Turkey it seems pretty authentic. The staff are very attentive and the food comes out really quickly — which is great if you’re out for a quick lunch. Definitely worth a visit!

I’m not going to lie — I definitely think there’s a point that food is too cheap for me to feel comfortable eating. At £4.95 for two courses for a weekday lunch, Anatolia is very close to that«too cheap» mark. But, I’ll happily admit that the food here is good — very good, in fact. I opted for pide(£2.10) while I waited for my companion. A large potion easily enough for 2 or 3 people and served with delicious garlic butter. I’d have eaten loads more if it wasn’t for the two course meal on it’s way. I had borek to start followed by chicken shish. Lovely flaky puff pastry stuffed with spinach and feta, this was fresh and delightful as a starter. The chicken was a generous portion of about 5 chunks, all cooked so they were juicy as tender. The sides of salad and dip made it a bit more interesting than just grilled chicken. I liked the side of rice which was nice and crunchy. Service was fine, not overly friendly but efficient. They also didn’t seem bothered that we stayed on for at least half an hour after finishing our meals. The bill for two people with soft drinks came to £15! Decent food, crazy cheap prices and a clean & tidy restaurant — I’ll be back sooner rather than later.

Was really surprised with this place as I would normally walk straight past it but on Roz’s recommendation we had lunch here and it was delicious! Great value for money, I had the express business lunch and really enjoyed my 2 courses for £6.50(I chose something with a £1.50 supplement). Service was interesting, we think possibly we had a new girl initially. When we walked in and asked for a table for 2, she asked if we’d mind waiting while she set up a table for us. Not a problem at all but she rushed off to wipe and set the only table in the place which wasn’t set and it wasn’t that busy. I have no idea what was wrong with ALL the other tables? Bit odd. However, service was friendly and generally efficient, despite a bit of a mix up with drinks and the bill(both were dealt with quickly and with an apology). Absolutely loved the chicken shish, the beetroot stuff with it was gorgeous! Will definitely go back. It’s much more pleasant inside than out.

Went here for lunch last week with Bex as they do two great lunch offers(2 courses for £4.95 or 2 course for £6.95) and the food is very good. The service was a little bizzare with mix ups over drinks and our bill but the staff are friendly and polite. I recommend the stuffed vine leaves to start and the yummy bread that’s brought out with the starters is simply perfect :) And the Chicken Shish for main is very good. The meat and veg are full of flavour and taste exactly how you wish your own homemade kebabs could taste — check out the photo I’ve added.

My wife and I had plans of visiting another place we had found on Unilocal. However, as it turns out, it was pouring rain. We decided that since we had to walk 15 minutes that if we saw somewhere else that looked enticing then we would stop there instead. And thus we happened upon Anatolia. Any time I see a Turkish restaurant I am always searching my brain for a good excuse to stop inside. And considering the rain I had plenty of reason to stop. And I’m glad we did. We were easily attracted to the pre-theatre deal(I think it was 9.50 for 2 courses). I decided to go with chicken shish and tabouleh. It was really good. In fact we were both pretty full after the bread and starters, so full in fact that if it had been lunch I would’ve been satisfied enough to stop… but I happily carried on to the second course. The chicken shish came with various sides, all of which were colourful and very tasty. The chicken itself was good… I have to admit I’ve had better, but that’s only because I feel that the taste of the chicken wasn’t as rich or spicy as I would’ve preferred. Either it wasn’t marinated long enough, or didn’t have enough marinade, or something of the sort. At any rate is was good, but not excellent. If we weren’t both so full after the second course, we would’ve been more than happy to have one of the desserts, all of which looked rather appealing. Considering what you COULD pay for a meal Glasgow on a Saturday night, I felt like we had a very enjoyable meal without breaking the bank. I would be more than happy to visit again.

We were looking for a yummy but not money blowing place to eat sat night in Glasgow. We happened upon this restaurant and were happily surprised. The Pre Theatre dinner special for 2 courses was £9.50 a person. We each go a starter which we shared so we could mix it up and the chicken shis as our mains. The starters came out with a huge flat bread with garlic herb butter and olives! Then when the mains came out they had little salads and sauces on the plate as well as some rice, potatoes and our chicken! We were stuffed by the time we left and it cost us just £20 for the two of us ! The food was delicious and I would defiantly go here again.

Great Turkish Food with a good price value ratio. We had the mixed kebab and the chefs table. Absolutely perfect for a start into a weekend evening.

Went here early on a Saturday evening for the 3 course pre-theatre menu, £11.50, which is available until 6.30pm. The place was fairly quiet when we arrived, so we were seated quickly without a reservation, but it soon filled up! Pretty soon there was hardly a spare seat, and after trying the food, I can see why. The atmosphere feels authentically Turkish, and the staff were knowledgeable about the menu. The service was fairly quick and efficient, with staff only seeming slightly pressurised as the place filled up. The starters weren’t huge, but for the price they were reasonable, and absolutely delicious. The mains came with healthy portions of salad and rice, and added to the complimentary bread and olives, were more than enough to fill us up. I had the stuffed peppers, and while the rice inside seemed to have turned to pure mush with the heat, they tasted lovely, especially with the yoghurty condiment that came with it — I don’t know the Turkish name for it, but it was slightly different from the cacik I had as a starter. I ended up opting for a Tia Maria coffee rather than one of the pre-theatre desserts, but the 2 course pre-theatre is £9.95, so with the coffee added, it wasn’t too much more expensive. If I’m honest, it wasn’t the best liqueur coffee I’ve had in my life, and I’ve definitely had better in a Turkish restaurant, so this was the only disappointment of the meal for me — otherwise this would’ve been a 5-star review! My other half had a rice pudding dessert(Firin Sutlac, I think?) which he loved. Healthy and delicious food, nice ambience, and right in the city centre — if you like Turkish cuisine, Anatolia is a great find!

The food is excellent but unfortunately the service is poor. They have a rather fantastic two course lunch menu for a fiver, and I will grant you that the food tastes like the best stuff you can find in Turkey. However, they have this rather stupid rule that if you want a drink, you have to buy one. So no free glass of water. So it’s really two courses for about eight pounds, which isn’t as competitive. Also, I discovered this when I was eight months pregnant but was still refused a glass of water. What kind of place doesn’t give a heavily pregnant woman a glass of water? And then be slow and sniffy with service for the rest of the meal? This place. So I would recommend the food, but unfortunately the service leaves a bad aftertaste.

Truth be told, I had a pretty amazing lunch at Anatolia this past week. It’s right by my work, and I’ve had Turkish food before thanks to a postgrad roomie, but I’d never gone in to scope it out. More’s the pity, as they do a great set lunch – loads of food for a ridiculously low price for the quality. I had the slower set lunch(slightly different menu, as they also do a ‘business express lunch’), but the service was friendly and almost as fast. Two courses and a coffee were £7.95, and for lunch, the portion size was absolutely fantastic. I had a whole plate of hummus with fresh-baked pitta for my very own – best hummus I’ve ever tasted – for a starter. The beyti kebab wasn’t overly spicy, and came with its own pitta, salad, pilaf rice, a tomato, and two condiments(a sweet beetroot and an astringent red-coloured mint one) that perfectly complimented the lamb. Even the filter coffee was pretty amazing, plenty strong, and that wasn’t even the Turkish coffee version. My only complaint is that it took an age and a half to get my bill, but seeing as I’d accidentally broken a wine glass of theirs, maybe it’s my penance. Anyhow, Anatolia’s worth a try if you want to switch up your city centre lunchtime. I hope to be back shortly.

We have visited a few times now and the food, service and atmosphere are fabulous. It is the first Turkish restaurant we have visited in the UK that serves truly authentic food, cooked on a traditional wood fired grill. We will be back again and again and again… Afiyet olsun
