Alishan Tandoori

Superb food!!!

I have had takeaway delivered from here a few times and knew the food here would be lovely, if you want a nice meal that isn’t dripping in ghee this place is lovely it is VERY expensive though with a main course between £9 and £10 without any rice etc. The menu is extensive as well.
For the price paid I would have expected far nicer surroundings and professional waiting staff. Paper table cloths, and flat rola cola made me grudge paying the bill.
I was charged twice the amount the dining experience was worth. The food alone is probably worth 3 – 4 stars. It really was the price and the warm flat drinks that made me score so low.
I have considered that perhaps the rent on the property is high and pushing the price up– but other eateries in the area are not this expensive, and offer a nicer experience.

I always wait a few times before passing final judgement but a recent home delivery we had from the Alishan was a little on the disappointing side.
The Paneer Pakora was a let down — very rubbery and a bit dried out. The mixed Tandoori starter was a mixed bag — the Chicken pieces and Lamb were both on the dry side (although well spiced and tasty) although the Seekh Kebabs were a little better.
The main course was an Afgani Korma — it had a very runny sauce which wasn’t at all «creamy» and it was a single, full Chicken breast for the meat — we kind of felt it was a basic Korma sauce which had just had a cooked chicken breast stuck in at the last minute when the sauce was being finished off.
I may give it a second chance and see what comes but not impressed so far,

My wife and I like to consider ourselves curry aficionado’s and can be quite picky about where we eat…
The Alishan is within walking distance from where we live and could not belive our luck that it is one of the best curry houses in Glasgow… right on our doorstep!
The place has an extensive menu and will also make something original for you if you tell them the kind of things you like, they will then go away and create!
The staff are friendly and are good at remembering you if you visit them a few times.
Be sure to go visit them at Christmas, their decoration are a sight to behold!

This may not be my closest Indian takeaway and restaurant but it is by far the best and I love their ‘My place or yous’ plastic bags. He, he. I know I should have grown out of finding this amusing some time ago, but alas.
Anyhoo, the restaurant it’s self is a good side yet still manages to be very cosy, homey and ultra comfortable. The chairs are heavy, well cushioned and more than a little difficult to manœuvre over the REALLY thick carpet. The lighting is nice a subdued, there’ s inoffensive and fairly quiet Indian background music and — me and the boy’s personal favourite bit of décor — some big massive tropical fish tanks separating the small takeaway waiting area and the main restaurant.
The restaurant is always very well staffed with friendly and non-​intrusive individuals. I reckon, this is due to its dual status as a takeaway so they can man the phones etc without causing delays in the restaurant area.
Now for the food. Oh, the food. It’s always well cooked and spiced just the right amount. Though, beware the spiced onions, they are deceptively spicy and very good. These are brought to you free of charge while you wait on your starters. Yum.
The meat is always fresh and tasty, with the lamb often being my top choice. The portions are massive, especially the side order of garlic nan bread. It really was a platter. This is amazing, though it does mean you’ll probably have to share once everyone else witnesses it’s glory. Tut tut.
As for the beverages there’s a great selection and at fairly good prices too, but I’d recommend the good old bottled Cobra.
Furthermore, if you can’t be bothered making yourself presentable enough to sit in you can always takeaway by either collection or delivery. No excuse.
