Aldo is always rather hit and miss for me, sometimes I pop in and I want all the shoes, other times I leave rather uninspired. It’s usually quite busy but the staff are friendly and always make a point of asking everyone if they need any help. Not in an annoying forcing you to buy way though. When I was in America a few years ago I was stunned to see that Aldo was a relatively cheap shoe shop, and the pound sign just has a dollar sign in front of it minus 10 or 15 dollars, and due to the amazing exchange rate all the shoes were just under half price than you would pay here! I got a stunning pair of boots in the sale there that would have been around £90 and I got them for around £17! Absolutely amazing! Apart from boots, my main problem with Aldo is that their shoes are sized slightly larger than other shoe shops. I’m a size 3, but the 3’s here are too big and far too wide which makes me sad as I often see really cute pumps here that I would love!

Hmm I am not sure about Aldo. I think a lot of ladies fashion stores such as Topshop and River Island have such fantastic shoe departments that a dedicated shoe store has to be really something special to grab my attention these days! Some of Aldo’s shoes verge on being a bit too tacky for me. There’s a tendency to have a little bit too much going on, fuchsia pink with platform heels, loads of straps and a multitude of studs. They aren’t particularly cheap either; your average pair of Aldo heels will set you back around £55, but for me, more often than not, the quality isn’t there for the price.

Aldo seems to be a bit hit-or-miss for me. On one hand, they do have an enormous selection of shoes — mostly for one occasion. Going out! They have a ridiculous number of sandals(in a good way), boots, flat pumps, and… well, you get the picture. They also sell quite a number of bags and a small range of accessories. I think your success here will depend upon your needs. If you want a pair of high heels, this is the place to go. I bought a pair of high-heeled sandals here, and although I feared they’d be too loose at first, they fit well, even after several hours of dancing. Pretty impressive! Some of what you’ll find here is quite plasticy, so it really depends on your tastes. All in all, though, a decent ladies shoe shop.

I was pleasantly surprised by this shop when I was on the hunt for a pair of heels for a special occasion. Having never shopped in Aldo before, I spontanously walked in after an unsuccessful morning trawling the shops. I was immediately impressed with the selection of shoes and even more impressed with the lovely member of staff that greeted me and helped me try on various pairs. They didn’t have a great selction of casual shoes but if you’re after a pair of heels, I’d recommend you take a look. It’s a bit more upmarket than what I was used to(my heels were £60, more than I ever care to spend on a pair of shoes that will spend more time in my wardrobe than on my feet) but I absolutely love them and so think they’re worth every penny.
