Fabulous little sweet shop, half way up Cheap Street right in the heart of town. The window is packed full of traditional style large clear jars with a huge selection of all the traditional favourites that we remember from childhood, and many new flavours too. Inside, the displays of ‘penny chew’ style shelves are an absolute magnet for children(and grown-up children!) everywhere. For a pound you can come away with a pleasingly large selection of different goodies, just like in days gone by(except back then it would have been sixpence!) In the back of the shop there are the more generic branded confectionary items if you just fancy a Mars Bar or something. I seldom even get that far. The shop also stocks speciality chocolate made by the Cheddar Chocolate Company, which it extremely tempting. You can get your boiled sweets measured out by the quarter(so can afford to try several different types at a time), and they come in those little white paper bags for an extra traditional touch. Not to mention very ecologically friendly. Probably best avoided by adults around school ending times as children throng to it on their way home. But whilst the little dears are tucked away doing their lessons, then the adults can become kids again and browse and discover wonderful new and old favourites.
