We have been here on both visits to Colkirk — Christmas 2008 and May 2010 — and been made to feel very welcome on both occasions, good beers on tap, a few nice whiskies and some very good food at the upper end of the pub-food price range. Meals include sea bass, lamb shank and various seafood dishes, including traditional ‘pub’ favourites like fish and chips or scampi. The beer garden isn’t the most atmospheric — some picnic tables in a big patch of grass next to the large car park — but the atmosphere inside is great, with a very traditional pub feel. Landlord and staff very welcoming to both us and the dog(dogs allowed in the bar).

I’ve not stayed in the hotel hear, as I stay quite close, always managed to make it home! The bar has been done up in the last few years, it’s trying to be quite clean cut and swish but to be honest, I always liked the cosy Norfolk pub look. The lighting was also nicer on the features! They can change the eating area into a small function room and there’s a terrace, though don’t get too excited, it looks out onto the carpark.
