Nobody Inn

Try going in there with a baby or a couple of kids and telling people it’s such a great pub.

Great place to eat and drink, good atmosphere and surroundings.
Great for tourists as history can be traced as far back as the Doomsday Book.
Very impressive with over 250 whiskys, a large choice of wines and local ales in a setting of a truly eclectic collection of antique memorabilia old world charm and West Country romance. There is even a small bar shop!

Great menu, with all recipes based on local ingredients and suppliers. There is a bar menu and a restaurant menu so cater for all tastes and pockets as prices very reasonable. There is even a daily specials board.
For those really special occasions they also have great accomodation, you definately get what you pay for!

It’s quite a way out in the middle of nowhere, but I have been making the effort to come here for a few years.
Booking for the restaurant area is essential, but turn-​up early to get yourself a seat if youre eating in the bar area.
The menu is not huge — which I find is a good sign in most cases. There are always different choices everytime I go back so I don’t get bored. The food is very tasty and the prices are very reasonable.
Just make sure that you’re not the designated driver to enjoy the excellent selection of wines and whiskies!

Wer einmal in den Süden Englands, in die Nähe von Exeter fährt, der sollte sich unbedingt durch das Hinterland bis nach Doddiscombsleigh durchkämpfen. Ich habe schon in vielen englsichen Pubs gesessen/​gegessen, dieser ist ein herausragendes Kleinod.
Der Pub selber ist gemütlich. Die Karte ist herausragend. Seit Jahren ist der Nobody Inn wegen seiner großen und exquisiten Auswahl an Weinen und Whiskys berühmt. Meine Frau und ich stehen allerdings mehr auf die sehr gute Küche.
Es gibt abseits des normalen Barfood interessante weitere Gerichte. Ich habe einmal ein sehr gutes Wildschwein-​Gericht gegessen.
Sehr ans Herz kann ich allerdings jedem nur die Käseplatte legen. Viele verschiedene lokale (!) Käse werden präsentiert, alle fein mit einem Fähnchen markiert und erläutert. So weiss man, ob nun ein Schaf-​, Ziegen– oder Kuhmilchkäse besonders gut war. Dazu gibt es kein Brot sondern Cracker sowie ein selbstgemachtes Ale-​Chutney, das man auch zum Mitnehmen kaufen kann (Empfehlung!).
Schade, daß der Weg dorthin von zuhause einfach zu weit ist. Ich wär dort Stammgast.

I never thought I would say this of any inn that didn’t serve Harvey’s Sussex Bitter, but this is the finest inn I have EVER visited — and I shall be returning as often as possible, considering that I live in Kent!
The beer brewed especially for the inn is wonderful! There are more that 240 whiskies to choose from. The wine list is enormous and excellent (the landlord even blends his own house white — the Three Choirs). The food is wonderful — good, simple, locally-​produced and imaginative — and not over-​priced. There is also an excellent restaurant menu. If you can manage to find this pub, you will never regret the effort!
