Been shopping here for many years now, and seen it grow from your basic selection of local vegetables, cheeses and meats to a wide selection of all sorts of items — food & drink, domestic and the odd homeware. Most of what they sell is local — I live in Silverton for example, just around the corner, and often see food from my own village for sale on their shelves. Ironically this means the food I buy there has had to travel extra food miles before I get it back to the village for supper! Quality is usually very good, and though they can’t be quite as ‘perfect’ as the supermarkets they’re often cheaper and they leave them in the dust flavour wise. Take the organic carrots for example — they actually — shock horror — taste of carrot. If you’re used to buying plastic wrapped bags from your local Tesco you really should try some of what the Exe Valley farm shop has to sell for a change — you’ll rediscover just how food should taste again.

Large, rather haphazard farm shop within easy reach of Exeter. The large parking area has been colonised by numerous chickens and guinea fowl as well as a tribe of cats, making driving in a precision, painstaking business. But it is worth it as the vegetables, fruit and other produce are excellent quality and sensibly priced. Apart from vegetables, there is a fresh, local meat section, various prepacked dressings and other foods, etc, a pet supply section and various drinks.
