Rosebery Housing Association

I brought a shared ownership property with Roseberry in 2017 and recently sold with them. I want to make everyone aware of how poor this housing association is and to prevent anyone else from having to deal with them.

I experienced nothing but problems with Roseberry since I moved into my flat. I had numerous issues with the area surrounding the flats, which were filthy and never cleaned, even though payment was honoured to Rosebery for this. It took many months of taking photographs and escalations, making complaint to get this resolved.

There was also issues with the deliveries for a nearby shopping unit, in which articulated lorries were unloading and blocking emergency access to flats, parking over paths and delivering at unreasonable hours, sometimes before 6am. Roseberry did nothing and it took a lot of effort and environmental health involvement to get anything done about it.

The sheer amount of complaints required to get anything done is unacceptable.

Roseberry increased the rent and service charging part of the agreement on annual for 70%+, making the accommodation unaffordable and without warning. They put this down as a fund to refurbish the flats we live in, yet this was never completed. The flats unit has not been refreshed in over ten years and is in really bad condition. The outside wood work is rotten and I don't think the unit itself has had a paint job since it was built in 2009.

This put the combined monthly payment for a property with a 50% share at almost £800, which was much higher then the mortgage for the 50% share of the property. I am now paying less for a 5 bedroom house each month than I was for the 2 bedroom flat, over a shop unit.

When contacted they stated they can do it legally as a sink fund.

Thankfully the property is now sold, so I don't have to deal with this poor organisation again. I highly advise anyone that wishes to go down the
