First time at a hostel, I was very impressed. Friendly, helpful staff. Free wifi. Felt and looked clean. I stayed in the 18 bedroom, pretty spacious. They have a neat bar but I used the kitchen to make my own food. Presentation of the food was real nice and respectable like. I would definitely stay here again.

As far as budget accommodations go this place was alright. The staff is friendly, helpful and flexible. The dorm rooms themselves probably try and pack a few too many people in to them and the beds can be a very squeeky. It’s located a 7 or so minute walk from the heart of Old Town, which if you’re staying for more than 3 or so nights can get a little repetitive. Overall I’m sure better could be found, but if nothing appeared in a search I’d come back here with no real hang ups

Had heard some good things about this recently re-furbed and re-opened restaurant so tried it out. Venue seems a little unsure of what it is — sports bar or restaurant, but the food was great and really good value. The sweet chilli sauce that came with the home-made the fishcakes was outstanding, but the strong flavours in it overpowered the fishcakes somewhat. The steak was really good, complemented nicely by the café de paris butter. My mate has the burger which he thought good too. Fruit crumble with custard for pudding. The crumble was OK but the custard was a dish in itself. I noticed on the wine list they stock Château Musar — a particular fave of mine — they recommend calling before you come and asking that they decant the Musar so it can be left to breathe which is a nice idea. Interestingly this is priced at £25 a bottle — compared to £65 at Oloroso and other city centre eateries! I decided to go for the house red which was surprisingly good. All in all, I thought it was excellent. Next time I might just call early about the Musar…
