Wannaburger excels in it’s pricing. This is a budget burger spot. — I dare you to find a cheaper burger, fries and milkshake deal in Edinburgh! However, I’ve had far juicier and flavourful burgers and I’ve happily paid more for them. All in all, this burger and fries experience was a suitably A-OK one. The patties are the really thin kind and I prefer the big and juicy kind. — If you’re really hungry, you’ll need to double up at Wannaburger. Service was friendly and we were given a genuinely warm hello and goodbye, although we had a bit of a wait for our meals to go. Personally, I’d rather save my pennies to have steakhouse type burgers with that juicy, deliciously well-seaoned meat. For me, Wannaburger was lacking in this respect. Nonetheless, if you’re really at a pinch money-wise and after a burger, Wannaburger might be just what you’re after.

Theve changed the burgers used and the place has went from serving quality fast food to garbage. Rather than a nice brown/red bit of meat u get something that is almost white in colour bar the brown streaks where the grill has asserted most pressure on it. Horrible taste, horrible texture. Had been looking forward to it as well as i hadnt been to wannaburger in ages. Wont be returning though

I don’t usually like burger places, but I frequently return to wanna burger. Why? Well, it is clean, reasonably priced and has great vegetarian options, as well as the best post-mix soft drink selection of any such place anywhere. Nowhere else do they let you have IrnBru, Vimto and Sunkist(2 flavours) & also interesting lemonade. Yummy burgers, side/extra/doubling options all good.

Wannaburger is an unashamed fast-food restaurant that does things just that little bit better than any other greasy burger joint. The menu is fairly simple but most people will find something that they want. There’s a decent amount of variety for a fast-food restaurant and even a sense of fun about the offerings. They also had no less than three veggie options, which is pretty impressive for a burger place The burgers are mostly all around £4, which is pretty reasonable because they’re quite tasty burgers! Some additional toppings like cheese, a fried egg, guacamole or peanut butter(!) cost 50p, where as others such as tomato relish, cajun spice, japalenos or grilled onions are free! A side of fries is about £1.50. Can’t argue with that! The interior is ok-ish. A bit sterile and plasticy for my likings, but ultimately fine. The staff are all super-casual. Don’t expect American-style jump-to-it service, but it was still pretty competent and fast. At least they all seemed relatively chill, unlike McDonalds staff who look like they’re all living their worst nightmare. If you’re in the West End and looking for a quick and relatively cheap bite to eat, Wannaburger is probably your best shout.

You really can’t go many places in Edinburgh and get a burger, drink, and chips for under a tenner. That said, I can now vouch for Wannaburger if you’re looking for a quick, tasty meal that doesn’t leave your piggy bank in a pile of smoldering rubble. Environment-wise, it’s a comfy, clean, and simply-yet-tastefully decorated joint. Not quite as dim and sterile as I remember Burger being, which is a plus in my book. It’s a self-ordering operation, naturally, but the service was pleasant and quick. Not only that, it does have a soda fountain you can get your drinks from, although it’s hidden around the corner and I didn’t notice it until after I’d lamely gone with a bottle of water. :) Hubs got a cup of sweet tea – another thing I hadn’t had since leaving the States. Food-wise, I had a portabello burger whereas hubs had a spicy bean burger, and both hit the spot. Sure, these burgers won’t change your life or anything, but they’re certainly better than some of the excuses for veggie burgers I’ve had in classier establishments for sure. They’re also just the right size for a meal that fills the hole but doesn’t leave you on a stretcher with cardiac arrest by the end. I’m impressed that there are three veggie burger options, and there was an extensive amount of regular burgers as well. I was doubly pleased when I spotted the option for cajun fries instead of regular with only an upgrade of 10p, which is awesome! The guy at the till also offered me a side of coleslaw, which my Southern self could simply not refuse. Awesome. All in all, Wannaburger is an excellent Edinburgh re-imagining of greasy, self-service U.S. burger joints. I’d definitely pop in for another visit if hungry and pinched for time in the future, or just looking to save a few pounds.

I’m a little late to Wannaburger. It’s a place that I’ve heard good things about for quite a while. As well as some not good things. Unfortunately, my experience left me in the latter camp. I ordered the double bacon cheeseburger shake meal. The burger patties were very thin, which meant that they ended up grey, dry and overcooked. Nothing like the pink, juicy patty a burger should be. There were also some traces of lettuce, tomato and some sauce on there but it was all so bland I cannot identify just what it was. The fries were identical to McDonald’s. Nothing to complain about but nothing worth noting, either. The shake was the best part. I like shakes. Thick shakes. Shakes so thick you risk an aneurysm trying to pull them through the straw. They weren’t quite that much of a health risk but they tasted great and their flavour combos/add ons are a nice touch. Overall, It’s basically McDonalds with a pretence. And for the price, I’d go for a Maccy D’s. Much, much better burgers are had elsewhere in town for the same price.

I’ve been a wannaburger fan since before it even opened. No, I don’t own a T.A.R.D.I.S — I was a fan of the founding fathers — Cambridge Bar. Not sure if they are still connected but I still love Wannaburger. It first started as table service and I wasn’t too sure about the fastfood changeover a few years ago, but it seems to work. I haven’t had a burger here in years so I can’t jump into the best burger in Edinburgh debate — but it is my FAVE bean burger! Crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside but with full pieces of beans — you can see what you are eating! Not just a mushy mess. I dream about the bean burger — hold the mayo, add a fried egg. It is that good! But be warned they call it a ‘spicy bean burger’ for a reason. It does have a nice kick — not painful but you will have full on mouth tingle. I also love that you can ditch the bun and get your burger(any variety) on top of a mega pile of mixed salad. I’ve been on a health kick so I haven’t had a milkshake in years but the last one I had was thick, rich and AMAZING. The only reason I have the willpower to resist is that the beanburger is so satisfying that I don’t want to adulterate it with any other tastes — so no fries, no shake needed. Now that’s got to be healthy!

I came to Edinburgh from states and this place certainly reminded me of America(free refills etc, even the presence of paper towels in the restroom). And yes, the spicy chicken burger was also very tasty.

the worst way to spend 7 pounds. The burger is not even as good as a chili cheese burger at Burger King. The meat is a disastrous frozen patty, pale like there is only 50% meat in it. The bun is good though :) … but we’re not in a bakery I don’t understand how it can rank so high in Edinburgh.

Having recently converted to being a vegetarian, I wanted to point out they have a delicious Spicy Blackbean burger, which although fried, is a guilty pleasure if you need to feel like you are having a burger. I miss a good burger, but this definitely fulfils to a certain point. They also have a Portobello once, which I have yet to try, but certainly will!

Wannaburger was a breath of fresh air for me. After spending almost 4 months in Europe studying abroad, I was feeling homesick and while I loved Scotland, I was ready to get back to the States to my friends and family. One evening, on a whim, I wandered to a part of Edinburgh I hadn’t frequented during my visit there, admittedly looking for a Wagamama. It was getting late and some of the restaurants were already closing, I was hungry and I was tired of walking. I decided a burger sounded good, so I headed in. Instantly, my friends, I was in paradise. AMERICANSPORTSCENTER was being broadcast on the TV. I was nearly in tears. I felt at home. I went up to the counter to order. I can’t remember exactly what I paid for my burger, fries and milkshake, but I can definitely say it was reasonable. I ate alone, but felt comfortable in the space, even among large groups. I could have stayed longer and watched some more Sportscenter — it was baseball season — and my beloved Cardinals were playing. Seriously, Wannaburger was totally meant to be. On a return trip to Edinburgh, I honestly probably would not come here because I can get my share of burgers and fries back at home, but for anyone homesick for the States or wanting a good beef patty at a decent price, this will not disappoint.

Fast and cheap. This place has the most delicious fast-food burgers of all Edinburgh. And if you get bored eating every day the same food, try the special. I think it was the first time that burger had better look on my table than in the picture.

So I’m planning on going back and eating more so I can give it a proper review… We had been out for a beer tasting and I was a bit hungry after and this was on our way back to our hotel. I’d been meaning to try it out for a while. Anyways I got the kids bean burger(like I said I just wanted a bite) …I didn’t get any toppings thought their seems to be loads to chose from(.50p each). The spicy bean burger was spicy but not too much, a little more fried then I would want but still great. I got the Cajan fries which were great and had some great kick. The place is much more like a fresh fast food restaurant rather then those gourmet burger places in town… But it’s way cheaper so I’m cool with it . Will be back soon to try a more loaded burger.

The only thing Wannaburger has going for it is its prices. and their shakes are pretty tasty. Other than that. I’ve had burgers and hot dogs from here on a few occasions and have always left somewhat underwhelmed. With Burger now just around the corner, I don’t forsee myself going back to Wannaburger.

Going to have to update this to a five star review; they now carry Sierra Nevada beer, and I’ve sample the incredulous milkshakes. Purely for value for money, I don’t think this can be beaten in Edinburgh. I was in tonight with my son — double cheeseburger, double bacon cheeseburger, one fries, one cajun fries, one refillable pepsi, one refillable iced tea — just 5p over £15. And don’t think«cheap and nasty» — I’ve never seen my son inhale a burger faster than the speed of light before. A great place, and well worth your time.

When this place first opened the food was really good, now it’s just really average. Burger consists of a bun, meat, a single lettuce leaf and a single slice of tomato and I think there may have been a small amount of mayo. Apart from a hint pepper, the grilled chicken burger I ordered was entirely bland. I probably wouldn’t eat here again.

Have always wanted to try this place out and was not disappointed! Me and my friend got the May special which is a blue cheese and bacon burger! So yummy! Quick service, free refills which for me is great. Have heard though the root beer floats are a must so will try the next time. They also do student discount which is an added bonus, but even without the discount still a decent price! Will def be back!

This place offers a tasty burger! But not just any burger — a possible combination of 345,672 burgers(well actually that might not be completely accurate, but there’s a lot of possible combos!) I was in Edinburgh for work for a few days and after just arriving I wanted something quick, tasty and healthy. Basically quick and tasty was well and truly covered but healthy went out of the window… I did try my best by getting the spicy bean burger with my own combo of Halloumi and Guac on top but this mix could well and truly have been a heart stopper now I think about it! Burgers, fries, shakes and pretty much all below £10 for a good feed. You can sit in and takeaway — it serves a purpose if more on the side of fast food than restaurant but it was pretty popular so they’re definitely doing something right!

This place is like a McDonalds for adults, everything is just that little bit more grown up I guess is the best way to describe the place. You can get your burger, fries with a beer. The beer is from the West brewery rather than some standard fosters or tennants malarky, so thumbs up from me on that note. The restaurant is comfortable enough with some booths, high tables and regular seating. Nothing too complicated and from the asthetics its nice enough, but it is a burger joint so on to the food… I guess the bad bit first the Onion rings ewww! These were swimming in grease and pretty much inedible. I definately would steer clear of these even after a few beers I couldnt imagine them being appealing. Now one of my favourite items on the menu the cajun fires. The spice mix on these bad boys is amazing! I dont even like chips/fries, but these are something else. The portion size has decreased, but I actually view that as a good thing because I struggled to finish them last time. To accompany this I grabbed some of the slaw. This stuff was great really fresh tasting and a great accompanyment to the fries. The beer is served in a plastic glass which is fine I guess, but I would rather of had a proper glass. This point had me hovering between 3 and a 4 star rating. The beer was kept well and had the distinctive west flavour. Now onto why we come back here drunk and sober, the burgers. The Missus went for a grilled haloumi burger with blue cheese, jalapenos, and cajun spice. Yep cheese on cheese I am assured it was well good. Myself I went for double cheese burger with all sorts added on, check my photos. The toppings for burgers are done in 2 teirs of costing — free or 50p. Make sure you grab the cajun spice on whatever you order. ;D All in good service, great burgers and you can get a pint with it. Thumbs up from me I will definately be back at the point I need some good fast food.

Not bad. Better than other fast food joints in Scotland. Actually WAY better than the fast food joints in Scotland. I kinda expected more, but was won over by the rootbeer float. That was definitely worth going. OMG, you have not experienced American fast food/diner fare til you’ve had a rootbeer float. Brought me back to the days of Dairy Queen and the likes. Yet the burger wasn’t all that. It was ok but it just felt like there was something missing, to make it a home run. Also, I probably should’ve ordered the cajun fries. I ordered the onion rings. They were good but clearly frozen. So now I’m on a mission to find fresh made onion rings, any rec’s?
